INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL PROGRAM in ITHACA
for Curators and Visual Artists. EXHIBITIONS → PRESENTATIONS → PUBLIC EVENTS → CUSTOMS Ithaca symbolises the Return.

R2I is a Curating Art and Artist cultural organisation in the island of Ithaca. R2I objective is to create a strong communication network among Artists, Curators and its Synergies, through the residency program. Artists and Curators meet, work on a specific concept and create an artistic expression. The whole process is open to the Ionian local communities creating a channel of communication betwe

en the public and the artists' action. From Homer to Cavafy and James Joyce "Ithaca gives you the marvelous journey". With this point of reference the participants communicate their individual work interconnecting with visitors, locals and the natural environment. At the same time, various of exhibitions, workshops, conferences and events are taking place setting R2I one of the basic cultural institutions through Ionian islands. True Journey is Return,

is a Hungarian photographer whose work explores the relationship between memory, time, and personal history. Graduating from École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in 2025, she creates intimate visual essays that weave past and present together. Drawing on archival photographs, visual associations, and literary approaches, her practice examines how personal and historical narratives overlap and transform.
Born in Budapest and currently working between Paris and Budapest, Kereszty’s work reflects the tension between lived experience and the echoes of nostalgia.

is a Polish photographer and member of Napo Images Agency. Born in Rydułtowy in 1985, the daughter of a coal miner, her practice explores the aftermath of loss, memory, and human resilience. Through long-term projects such as Self-portrait with my mother, Lost, Reborn, and Little Poland, she draws attention to personal and collective experiences of grief and transformation.
Her work has received international recognition, including the second prize in the World Press Photo 2021 for Reborn, the Magnum & Ideas Tap Award, and an internship at Magnum Photos in New York.

This year’s artist, , is a Spanish visual artist and photographer whose work explores archival imagery, gender, and memory. Her practice brings together research, curatorship, and collaboration to recover and reimagine women’s histories through photography, installation, and photobooks. Her work has been shown internationally at Les Rencontres d’Arles, , and the Budapest Photo Festival, and has received awards including the BAFFEST Prize and Photometria Festival Award.

Her work draws on inherited objects, personal archives, and historical imagery, recontextualised to create new fictions. Blending the historical, the intimate, and the tropical, she transforms the classical into the familiar and the domestic into something quietly mythical.

This year, artist (*1993, Nepal) joins the festival with a practice shaped by personal history and questions of identity, belonging, and displacement. Placed in an orphanage in Kathmandu at the age of seven and adopted by an Italian family a year later, he returned to Nepal in 2022 after more than two decades away, reconnecting with his birthplace and part of his biological family. This encounter became a defining moment in his work, which explores transnational adoption and the space between origin and belonging through photography, video, sculpture, drawing, and poetry.

For this year’s residency, Osheen Harruthoonyan brings a practice that merges movement with themes of cultural heritage and renewal. Through gelatin silver prints, he connects the macro and micro from celestial bodies to particles of dust, offering new ways of seeing the world. His work, grounded in hope and wonder, has been presented internationally in institutions such as the Boston Public Library, Aga Khan Museum, and the Louvre.

Stratos Maragos is a Greek photographer based in Athens whose work explores landscape, archives, memory and the traces of history. His practice focuses on photographic storytelling through places, historical narratives and personal memory, often connected to the Greek Civil War and former battlefields. He has participated in international workshops and exhibitions, with works presented in Greece and abroad.

An award-winning visual artist, researcher, and activist from Brazil, her work explores the political power of photography through environmental and human rights narratives, approached from a decolonial Global South perspective. Her projects have been exhibited internationally and featured in platforms including The Guardian, LensCulture, and Photoworks.
