For some reason, I really wanted to see this rhino by Itamar Gov . When I heard that it was currently in Dessau, I took the next train.
The rhino is big, intimidating, and at the same time surprisingly gentle. You almost want to hug it like a stuffed animal and cuddle it.
Here it’s not the pink elephant in the room, but the white rhino: something impossible to overlook, yet somehow no one talks about it. So much remains unspoken—things that need to be addressed, maybe huge and impossible to really grasp.
And then there’s the idea of “rhinozerising” – becoming radicalized, turning into a kind of trampling beast. Of course, this also carries so many connections to the current state of the world and politics.
That’s exactly why this rhino speaks to me.
I can really only recommend seeing it. Until 10.8. in Alte Brauerei Dessau
