MÁM means “a passage through the mountains”; it also means “obligation.”

A nightmare unfolds into a celebration. A girl’s anguish is channeled into an ecstatic dance revealing the need for community within the wild Celtic land — the wild world we inhabit.

For the first time in Greece, Michael Keegan-Dolan’s acclaimed choreography (Olivier Award nominee for Best New Dance Production) comes to the stage with 12 dancers from around the world in a ritualistic experience.

Body, rhythm, and music merge into a journey of intensity, strong enough to shatter any sense of the “in-between,” erase the borders within us, while offering the degree of fluidity that connection requires; for a moment, we become the Irish Sea.

Víkingur Ólafsson| Odeon of Herodes Atticus
A pianist tuning a theatre to shades of green. A piano transformed into a kaleidoscope, refracting monumental works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert in ways we have never heard before.

The programme itself reveals the artist’s way of thinking with remarkable clarity: as he argues, one only needs to turn to the past to realize what is missing from many of today’s concert programmes, which often leave listeners with the feeling that they are merely “leafing through a library catalogue.”

In the recital programmes of the nineteenth century, he observes, one senses a true spirit of liberation: they are striking, infused with improvisatory energy and full of unexpected turns. And it is precisely this modern perspective on timeless masterpieces that makes Víkingur Ólafsson one of the great artists of the twenty-first century.

The internationally renowned Norwegian artist Alan Lucien Øyen recently visited Greece to prepare for the highly anticipated performance of "Antigone," scheduled to take place on August 7 and 8 at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus.

During his visit, a meeting was held at the Norwegian Embassy in Athens, where Øyen discussed the creative development of the production with the Artistic Director of the Athens Epidaurus Festival, Michail Marmarinos, and other representatives of the institution.

The Ambassador of Norway, Harriet E. Berg, stated about the collaboration:

“Alan Lucien Øyen combines high art with raw human experience in technically daring performances. We are thrilled that his reimagined Sophocles’ Antigone has been invited to the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus this August—a stage where, for centuries, the human condition has been explored under the open sky, making this return to Antigone especially meaningful.”

A genuine confrontation or a staged reality? In Υannis Mavritsakis’ new work, time and place converge on the set of a televised interview during the era of the launch of the interplanetary Voyager probes. In the post-LSD aftermath of psychedelic experimentation, a staged talk show teeters between documentary, hallucination, and concert.

The “new king” of the media welcomes — and clashes with — the Leader of the sect: a New Age persona who provokes and deceives, pushing everything toward chaos. Gustav Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder are reworked into psychedelic and punk variations that organically invade the performance from within.

Drawn from different languages, the title GRAUTS is a coined word evoking the work’s inner soundscape: a whisper, a scratch, a growl.

The show does not end in a whimper. It ends in a bang.

20 Years of P260 | The creative duo of Heiner Goebbels and Michael Simon opens Peiraios 260 on 29 May — two artists who, for decades, have been transforming the relationship between music and theatre, sound and space.

Goebbels began his artistic journey in the 1970s by founding the “Left Radical Wind Orchestra” (Sogenanntes Linksradikales Blasorchester) and the experimental rock band Cassiber. At the same time, he was writing and performing music for demonstrations and political activist actions.

From the 1980s onwards, he started composing and directing works for radio, many of them based on texts by Heiner Müller, while in 1995 he came to Greece for the first time to present The Liberation of Prometheus at the Ancient Stadium of Delphi.

Alongside him is Michael Simon, whose work dissolves the boundaries between artistic disciplines, spanning opera, theatre, and ballet. In his scenic universe, the stage functions like a living organism: vast surfaces, slowly moving walls, and tilting platforms constantly transform the space and the audience’s experience. During the 1980s, he worked as an assistant set designer to Robert Wilson before becoming internationally renowned through his long-standing collaboration with William Forsythe at Ballett Frankfurt.

Rejecting traditional psychological theatre, Goebbels creates polyphonic worlds free from didacticism, where the audience is invited to move freely between sound, image, and movement. In 2001, he was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Small Ensemble Performance, while in 2012, he received the International Ibsen Award, one of the world’s most prestigious distinctions for theatre makers. In March 2026, he transformed Mumbai’s iconic Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum into a living sonic sculpture with the project Landscape Plays.

‘HOMMAGE’ - “Epirus” | A musical encounter of memory and continuity, dedicated to the deep-rooted tradition of Epirote music and its unbroken passage through time.

Music of the minimal and emotion of the immense. Sounds of the mountain and the mist. A dance slow and wise, yet incandescent with essence and longing. A clarinet, a lute, and an incomparable voice bridging two worlds. “Epirus” comes to the Herodeion, carried directly by the hands, breaths, and voices of the brilliant artisans of our tireless tradition.

Grammy-nominated laouto player Vasilis Kostas and the Epilekto Epirus Ensemble honour the glorious legacy of the late Petrouloukas Halkias, as a living point of reference for the way this music of Epirus is transmitted, transformed, and renewed across generations.

Featuring musicians: Kostas Tzimas (vocals), Antonis Kyritsis (vocals), and Petros Halkias (clarinet)
