Who's your favourite Greek god or goddess?

Mine is Dionysus, the story of his birth is just so ridiculous I love it. He was the son of Zeus and Semele (a mortal). Zeus impregnated her in the form of an Eagle. When she saw the god in his true form she died. Zeus was able to rescue their son from her womb and sew him into his thigh. A few months later he was born.

He became the god of theatre, and this photo is a theatre on the Acropolis that was built in his honour. Perhaps more importantly he's also the god of wine and winemaking 🍷

We're back in Leipzig and ready to share more photos from our adventures in Athens and Tuscany. Was good to hear in the comments of our last post that we're not the only ones that post after the trip. Sometimes you just have to live in the moment!

Athens was an awesome trip for us, but it does definitely require some research. We think you need to know some of the myths to begin to picture what places like the Acropolis were like. Stephen Fry has been very helpful on that front, definitely get his book Mythos is you're heading to Athens 📙

Cheers to Athens!!

We had a wonderful week exploring Athens, with some truly magical moments. We have so much more to share from this lively city, but we'll save that until we're back in Leipzig. Now we're off to Tuscany, bring on the gelato 🍨

Happy weekend!!

This is our 4th day in Athens, and we're loving the city so far. We're doing a lot of walking, eating and listening to ancient Greek legends.

We have taken so many photos we could Instagram several each day. But that takes time, and we'd much rather spend that time exploring or enjoying a roof top cocktail 🍹.

So you may see the odd photo in the next week, but most of them we'll share once we're back in chilly Leipzig.

Now we're off to a Greek food market, yum yum yum.

Does anybody else look for four legged friends when booking where they're going to stay?

Look at this little cutie who was waiting outside the door of our Airbnb to say hi this morning. He lives just upstairs, but got bored with waiting for us to get up, so started whining at the front door. Having a dog cuddle is the best way to wake up 🐕 @ Athens, Greece

Oktoberfest 🍻

My second and definitely not my last Oktoberfest. It's funny living in another part of Germany and visiting Bavaria. I realised that it really is like a totally different country. One I think I'm happier visiting than living in. Cheers to the diversity, tradition and beer of Germany!
