Had to share the pics with the best lecturers we could have had, cannot even imagine where I would be right now if it wasn’t for their support! Thank you Ry & Steve (& Rachel!) 🩷🩷

Thank you to everyone who came to our showcase last night! It was such an amazing opportunity to show off everything I have been working on over the last 3 years.

And finally a big thank you to the 4 amazing people I had the honour of working alongside to put everything together for the showcase (with a huuuge help from Ry and Steve of course!), I could not have asked for better people to finish my degree with! What a team 💪🏼🩷

I will be posting more of my FMP in the coming days and on my portfolio website: kittymarlow.com!

Here’s a little snippet of my research investigation. I conducted research and wrote a report on the toxicity of sexual content in the media, and the effect it has had on adolescents.

The findings from this report provided the direction for my final major project that I am showcasing tonight! Come to see me and my course-mates at 5pm in USW, Cardiff!

The full report is linked in my bio!

This is a project I completed in response to the D&AD ‘Google Fonts’ brief. I was challenged with creating a typographic, social campaign, on a social issue of my choice. I decided to focus on the topic of body image, particularly how social media has had a negative impact.

Low body confidence is an issue faced by people of all ages and genders. Social media is shown to have a huge impact on how adults view themselves, with 9 in 10 adults in the UK saying that they believe that body image matters in society.

‘Invisible Matters’ is a campaign encouraging people to look beyond appearance. The campaign features ‘invisible’ type to create interactivity. When a flash photo is taken of one of the campaign billboards, the true message of the campaign is revealed.

The ‘sharing’ aspect of the campaign is one of the most important elements. Since most negative feelings towards body image have stemmed from, and been worsened by, image based social media such as Instagram, it makes it the perfect platform to combat the issue. Sharing the image of the campaigns true message will help shine a light on how invisible social media has made these characteristics, and how we should highlight them instead of being so heavily focused on appearance.

I’ve been meaning to share my personal rebrand for a while, but here is a bit of a peek into what I have created!

My brand represents who I am as a designer. The use of my initials, KVM overlapping provides a sense of connection. As a designer I aim to connect with people, through creating innovative branding and campaign solutions, but also directly. The colours of the brand represent my traits both personally and professionally, the use of blue signifies my trustworthiness, pink represents my passion for design and the creativity I have, to enable me to push boundaries. Yellow portrays my cheerfulness and confidence within my design abilities and beyond. The design takes inspiration from the Swiss design movement, in both colour palette and use of shape and repeating pattern.

Visit my website: kittymarlow.com to take a look at my brand guidelines, to find out more about the brand itself!

Had a lovely afternoon today with the first year students at my old college! Talked a little about me and what I’ve been up to since leaving in 2020, but more importantly getting some super useful ‘user feedback’ for my final major project as the deadline is fast approaching!!

Thank you so much for having me, it was so lovely to be back!

(oh and of course I had to begin the presentation with a cheeky picture of Angus 🥹🐾)

Will be updating this page very soon with all the exciting uni projects I’ve been working on in the last few months!!

Long time no post - can't believe I'm coming towards the end of the first term of my final year, it's been rather busy!

In my current module, I am designing a social activism campaign on a topic of my choice... The issue I have chosen is 'Body Image' in particular how expectations to fit specific 'body standards' are portrayed in the media and how we can overcome these expectations.

I have created a questionnaire to gain insight on the topic which I would be hugely grateful if anyone has a spare couple of minutes to fill out! I understand questions on this topic can be very personal and is a sensitive topic for a huge number of people. You are under no obligation to answer any of these questions... but I would greatly appreciate any and all insight if you feel comfortable in doing so!

This survey asks questions about personal feelings towards body image + touches on body dysmorphia.
