DR OWL OR MR OWL AS MANY WILL REFER IT TO BE 🦉

In an African society, the Owl, a carnivorous bird or raptor is usually seen and perceived by many as a bird of strange characters and even its look alone would make others wanting to fly without wings to escape.
Many in African societies always perceive the Owl as a witch or a wizard especially due to its usually appearance during the night.

Many people get terrified or frightened whenever the raptor appears before them during the night believing a witch is after them and they'll mostly run for their lives.

GOOD NEWS IS ALSO NEWS BUT REMAINS TENTATIVE

The people of Tanji and beyond please let's come and celebrate this moment for a tentative moment of relief, joy and hope that we've been eagerly awaiting for years and decades for good roads and infrastructural development.

The government's nationwide foundation laying stone tour itinerary includes Tanji. And on Sunday the 16th of August, 2026, between 19hrs to 19 : 30hrs there will be a foundation laying stone and followed by a subsequent General meeting between the hours of 20 : 00hrs to 22 : 00hrs.

This, I will call it a tentative moment of joy, relief and hope as several promises were made in the past but none was fulfilled to the dismay and frustration of dissidents of Tanji and beyond. A renewed hope and a renewed dawn for the coastal community as the dissidents eagerly awaits for its fulfillment.

We can all recall, and agree that Tanji isn't just another community in the Gambia but a community that has been contributing immensely to the development and growth of the Gambia through revenue generation on key economic sectors like the fisheries, tourism, employment and many more. And with all the economic contribution that Tanji brings into the state coffers, Tanji for many years has been deprived of major infrastructural development like good road network that connects other communities.

Tanji, in recent times, is no doubt, has become one of the fastest growing communities in the Gambia serving as both an economic and a tourist hub for both local and international visitors alike --- but lacks that final Polishing to change the image for good.

For now, the tentative joy, relief and hope remains tentative until it becomes a reality that a long time dream of decades of unfulfilled promises for the people of Tanji and beyond has been achieved and finally becomes a history.

Could this be the defining moment that could change the narrative and dynamics about Tanji and depicts a picture that Tanji deserves for many years.?

We are proud to spotlight Ousman, a native of Tanji, as he prepares to share his powerful true story in his upcoming book:

"I AM OUSMAN: My Journey Across Africa in Search of Dignity and Hope."

This is more than a book—it's a testimony of resilience, survival, and hope. Ousman courageously recounts the harsh realities of the "Back Way" journey, the lives lost along the way, and his determination to return home and rebuild after surviving one of the world's most dangerous migration routes.

His story is a voice for those who never made it back and a message of hope for young people considering irregular migration.

As a community, let's stand behind one of our own and support this important work. We encourage everyone to read, share, and help amplify this message when Chapter 1 is released.

Tanji is proud of its sons and daughters who use their experiences to educate, inspire, and create positive change.

What is the purpose of the ECOWAS ID or Passport? I haven’t found it particularly useful, because even with this identification, travelers still have to pay an entrance fee at the Senegal border. Based on my experience, I possessed all the necessary documents, yet I was still required to pay a D200 entrance fee to Senegal. Interestingly, Senegalese citizens can enter Gambia without paying any fees, which I found quite surprising. This discrepancy raises questions about the practical benefits of the ECOWAS ID or Passport for travellers crossing these borders.

BOOK LAUNCHING COMMITTEE HOLDS ITS FIRST MEETING

The committee set-up to spearhead the launching of a book "Journey of Resilience, Service and Hope" authored by Buba Jatta, had its first meeting at the Tanjeh Youth Center ahead of the planned launching ceremony.

The meeting which focuses on strategic fundraising campaigns, including other vital engagements ahead of the event witnessed the presence of several committee members from various communities across Kombo South District.

The committee, as part of its plans for the launching, is committed to deliver a successful event that will not only produce a credible outcome, but also serve as a reminder of a positive result of hard work and discipline.

We continue to appeal to the general public, philanthropists, samaritans and well wishers for your magnanimity and support towards making the book launch a massive success.

The book showcases a journey of discipline, hardwork, dedication, patience, perseverance, passion, commitment, resilience and the will to serve humanity without expecting something in return.

Abdul Aziz Ansari DARA at Tanji Lamsarr is hereby appealing to the general public, philanthropists, samaritans and individuals seeking urgent support as heavy rains and strong winds destroyed their DARA.

The DARA isn't only a place where children acquire QU'RANIC knowledge but also teach and inculcate good values, morals, wellbeing and overall behaviour and comportment of our children as they grow in our societies.
