PUBLIC NOTICE
BANJUL ANNUAL CULTURAL FESTIVAL – 1 JANUARY 2026
Date: December 29, 2025
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, through the Transport & Traffic Flow Committee and in collaboration with the Security Committee, hereby informs the general public that the Annual Banjul Cultural Festival will take place on Thursday, 1 January 2026, in Banjul.
In view of the expected high turnout, the following traffic, access, and transport arrangements will be enforced to ensure public safety, free movement, and effective security coordination:
1. TRAFFIC ROUTES & MOVEMENT CONTROL
A. Entry into Banjul
• All vehicles entering Banjul must use Bond Road only.
B. Exit from Banjul
• All vehicles exiting shall use the following route:
Lasso Wharf Road → Box Bar → National Assembly Road → Main Highway
C. Restricted Access
• Only vehicles with VIP accreditation will be permitted access beyond the Memorial Arch.
• Unauthorised private and commercial vehicles are prohibited from restricted areas.
• Security checkpoints will be placed at identified control points.
2. FREE PUBLIC TRANSPORT (OFFICIAL FESTIVAL BUSES)
To promote participation and ease movement, free bus services will be made available to transport the public to and from Banjul on the day of the festival.
Bus Departure Points
• Westfield – Banjul (2 buses)
• Brikama – Banjul (1 bus)
• Tabokoto – Banjul (1 bus)
• Buffer Zone – Banjul (1 bus)
• Traffic Lights – Banjul via Kairaba Avenue (1 bus)
• Brusubi Turntable – Banjul via Sukuta/Bakoteh (1 bus)
• Coastal Road – Banjul via Sinchu (1 bus)
• Bakoteh – Banjul (1 bus)
• Sukuta – Banjul via Bakoteh (1 bus)
All buses are FREE OF CHARGE and will operate under traffic and security es**rt.
3. NO-PARKING & ENFORCEMENT ZONES
Parking is strictly prohibited along the following routes before, during, and after the festival:
• Bond Road
• GPA Area
• Hagan Street
• Lasso Wharf Road
• Box Bar
• National Assembly Road
• Main Highway (towards Memorial Arch)
Vehicles found parked along these routes will be towed at the owner’s expense.
4. PUBLIC COOPERATION
Residents, motorists, festival attendees, and the general public are respectfully urged to:
• Comply with movement and access instructions
• Cooperate with security officers and traffic personnel
• Avoid restricted zones without authorisation
• Use designated bus services where applicable
Public is strongly advised to adhere to the above guidelines for a peaceful and safe celebration.
