Congratulations to Brufut Upper and Senior Secondary School on successfully completing the filming of your project today!

What an incredible seven-month mentorship journey it has been. Throughout this programme, the mentees have demonstrated remarkable creativity, commitment, and teamwork. With principal photography now complete, only the post-production stage remains before the participants receive their certificates.

Special appreciation goes to their dedicated mentors, Lamin Bah, Babucar Jallow, Astu Mbakeh, Adama BADJIE and Pa Modou Cham, members of the Banjul Film Festival Executive Committee, whose guidance and unwavering support helped the mentees bring out their very best talents.

Congratulations to every student, mentor, teacher, and supporter who made this achievement possible. Your hard work is a testament to the power of storytelling and youth empowerment through film.

Latrikunda Upper and Senior Secondary School has officially begun shooting its two short films, marking a major milestone in the six-month mentorship programme offered by the Banjul Film Festival.

The film shoots are the culmination of months of learning, training, rehearsals and hands-on mentorship, as the students now put their newly acquired filmmaking skills into practice.

From developing stories and characters to acting, directing and production, the young filmmakers are taking centre stage and bringing their creative ideas to life.

Today, the Banjul Film Festival team visited Brufut Upper and Senior Secondary School to engage with our talented mentees as they prepare to shoot their short film following a comprehensive six-month mentorship programme.

The session provided an opportunity for the students to present their progress, receive constructive feedback, and fine-tune their production plans ahead of filming. It was inspiring to witness their creativity, confidence, and passion for storytelling after months of intensive training in filmmaking.

🎬Today, mentors from the Banjul Film Festival visited Latrikunda Upper and Senior Secondary School to assess the level of preparedness of our young mentees as they gear up to shoot their films at the conclusion of the six-month Filmmaking Mentorship Programme.

During the visit, the students rehearsed their film scenes before the mentors, showcasing the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout the mentorship journey. The mentors provided constructive feedback and professional guidance to help refine the storyline, acting, and production approach ahead of the official shooting schedule in two weeks.

We are impressed by the creativity, dedication, and enthusiasm demonstrated by these young filmmakers. This initiative continues to provide a platform for young people to learn, develop their talents, and tell their own stories through film.

As preparations intensify, we look forward to seeing these exciting projects come to life and celebrating the achievements of our mentees at the end of the programme.

At Banjul Film Festival, we remain committed to creating opportunities for young people to learn, develop their creative skills, and showcase their talents through the power of storytelling and visual arts.

This weekend, the Banjul Film Festival continued its mentorship programme at Brufut Upper and Senior Secondary School. The first session, held on Friday, was facilitated by Mr. Adama Badjie, with support from Mr. Bubacarr Jallow and Pa Modou Cham. Yesterday, the Banjul Film Festival (BFF) continued its mentorship sessions at Latrikunda Upper and Senior Secondary School, further empowering young creatives with practical filmmaking skills.

During the session, students were introduced to basic camera techniques and practical handling, led by one of BFF’s dedicated and talented members, Isatou Astou Mbakeh. Through her engaging and hands-on approach, students gained valuable insight into camera settings, framing, and the fundamentals of visual storytelling.

Isatou Astou Mbakeh demonstrated remarkable professionalism, skill, and commitment throughout the session.
