🇺🇸 PENTAGON WAR COSTS SURGE TO $37.5 BILLION AS TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SEEKS MASSIVE DEFENSE BOOST
The cost of the U.S. military campaign against Iran has climbed to $37.5 billion, according to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, marking a roughly 30% increase from the previous estimate of $29 billion.
The updated figure covers spending through the end of the U.S. fiscal year on September 30 and includes air and naval operations, carrier strike group deployments, troop movements across the Middle East, replenishment of missiles and precision-guided weapons, as well as logistics, fuel, and military maintenance.
During a Senate hearing, Hegseth defended the Trump administration's request for an additional $67 billion for the Department of Defense. He warned that without the extra funding, the Pentagon could be forced to scale back military training, delay maintenance programs, and reduce overall operational readiness.
The rising price tag has intensified debate on Capitol Hill, with lawmakers demanding greater transparency over war spending while the White House argues the additional funding is essential to sustain operations and preserve U.S. military readiness.
