MY EARLY MORNING LESSON
TOPIC: DON'T FIGHT DIRTY WITH PEOPLE...
Some men of God would often tell the people of God to sometimes get mad with the devil. My problem is, "what if that madness is what the devil has been waiting for to complete his wicked work in our midst?" The Bible rightly says that we should not give the devil his opportunity because Satan often waits for his opportunity and he seizes it in ways you will never fathom. The devil needs a spark to set the whole park on fire, and when you willingly hand him that spark, then be ready to regret afterwards. Don't forget that after Jesus' temptations, the Bible says that the devil left him until an opportune time; what's that opportune time? It's the time you want to get mad with the devil or to show them that you too can be nasty and can fight dirty like him. Call me a weakling or a coward, I would prefer to talk a walk than let the devil and his cousins work on me in that moment of anger. Fighting nasty with people might seem appealing and sometimes advantageous to some persons, but for me, I learnt not to fight nasty or dirty with people in order to prove a point. Chinua Achebe said in his book: ‘if a mad man picks your cloth while you are in the bathroom and takes off, and you go after him naked, nobody will know who is mad.'
That that woman called you a harlot and you called her a harlot shows that both of you share the same lot; crazy individuals. Just as you mustn't fail in your duty because some other person failed in his or hers, so also you mustn't become crazy because some other person lost it and became momentarily crazy. Some of your friends might secretly push you to retaliate in kind, but don't forget that not becoming mad with them when they get mad will prove that you are wise, not weak. Don't dance when they beat their drums of madness; to fall into their trap of dirty fights, will make you rap with Satan and his colleagues. Instead of fight dirty, please take a walk; sometimes, instead of getting mad with the devil, why don't you become docile with the Holy Spirit guiding you? I know that my point of view is very difficult, but it is not impossible. Don't fight with a pig; you both will get dirty but the pig will enjoy it... Use your brain!
