Stonebwoy, born Livingstone Etse Satekla, is a Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artist who has taken the music world by storm.
Described in high-praise terms such as ‘king’ and ‘master of his craft’ by his peers in the industry, the man has the Midas touch when it comes to the winning hit-making formula, as his many number one singles will testify.
Here are eight facts you probably didn’t know about him:
One of 7 siblings
The artist was born in the Greater Accra region of Ghana into a family of seven siblings and fell in love with making music from young, using drama class and music class as a vehicle to express himself in school.
He has rocked stages from the UK to the USA, Australia, Italy, Puerto Rico, Amsterdam and beyond, making his electrifying touring an integral part of his career as he leaves it all on the stage for his fans.
In 2015, he received many awards and nominations, ranging from “Artist of the Year” to “Album of the Year”. His sophomore album, Necessary Evil, was the recipient of three Ghana Music Awards from six nominations. He is currently the TGMA Artist of the Year.
An actor in his own right
Alongside his slew of musical feats, there is no stopping a force such as Stonebwoy.
As well as acting in movies such as Happy Death Day and My Name Is Ramadan, he is a global ambassador for sanitation and a brand ambassador for Voltic Mineral Water and Tecno Mobile Ghana.
