The Amasaman High Court has reduced the 15-year prison sentence handed to controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa to 12 calendar months, ruling that the original punishment was harsh and excessive. The court, however, upheld her conviction, affirming that the offences for which she was found guilty warranted custodial punishment.

In delivering its decision, the court exercised its discretionary powers to vary the sentence imposed by the trial court, reducing it from 15 years of hard labour to a one-year term. The judges held that while the conviction was sound, the severity of the sentence was disproportionate when measured against the circumstances of the case.

The revised sentence takes effect from July 3, 2025, the date of Nana Agradaa’s conviction, meaning she will serve a total of 12 months in prison. The ruling brings partial relief to the embattled evangelist, even as it reinforces the court’s position that her actions merited punishment under the law.

Ground Up Chale Sues Kwesi Arthur, Demands Over GHS10 Million After Bloc,king Him From Doing Music

Glen Boateng, founder of Ground Up Chale, has sued his former artist, Kwesi Arthur, as he accuses him of libel.

The record label boss is seeking more than 10 million cedis in d+m+ges over the artist's recent comment on social media.

This comes after Kwesi Arthur took to social media and called out Glen Boateng for not allowing him to produce music.

According to the artist, since his working relationship with the record label ended, Glen has continued to frustrate him, hence unable release new work for his fans.

"AKYEM ODA SET FOR TRANSFORMATION: COMPLETION OF STADIUM TO FOSTER UNITY, DEVELOPMENT, AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT."

In a promising move towards community development and youth empowerment, a high-level meeting was held recently between the Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, The Akyem Kotoku State delegation led by His Gracious Majesty Oseadeeyo Dr Frimpong Manso IV included Kwarko Aning Secretary, Osabarima Ankomah Bempong, Obrempong Tabi Anom and Nana Ama Agyeiwaa Agyekumwaa, and representatives from Zi Jin Golden Ridge Ltd, led by Vice President Jason Zhang, Sustainability and External Relations. The purpose of the gathering was to discuss the construction of the Akyem Oda Sport Stadium, a project poised to bring significant social and economic benefits to the region.

Hon. Kofi Adams emphasized the transformative potential of the stadium, stating, "Building this stadium will create jobs and unlock potential economic opportunities for our community. Sport is a powerful tool for development, it's a platform to nurture our youth, promote healthy lifestyles, and foster unity among our people."

Dr. Frimpong Manso IV expressed his support for the project, highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability, cultural respect, and inclusivity. “Our community’s welfare and heritage must be at the heart of this development. This stadium is more than just a sports facility; it’s a symbol of progress and unity,” he said. He also welcomed Zi Jin Golden Ridge Ltd as a key stakeholder, emphasizing the company’s potential to contribute positively beyond its mining operations.

Ms. Portia Oppong, a native of Akim Aboabo and an alumna of Attafuah Senior High Technical School, has paid a courtesy call on the office of the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda Constituency, where she presented her FIFA Beach Soccer Referee badge.
