Week 2 of my Virtual Assistant training… and I already feel like a different person.
Week 2 was focused on digital tools and business logistics — the real backend that keeps businesses running smoothly.
Here’s what I built in just one week:
• A fully organized Slack workspace with structured channels + clean communication flow
• A Calendly booking system with buffer times, intake forms, and automatic reminders
• My first Loom SOP — documenting a complete client onboarding process
• A clean, synced file system across Google Drive and Dropbox
• A detailed mock travel itinerary using TripIt
Two weeks ago, I didn’t even know most of these tools existed.
Now, I can use them to help a business stay organized, save time, and run better daily operations.
Growth doesn’t feel loud when it’s happening.
It feels small… repetitive… even boring.
But when you step back and look at what you’ve built — it becomes real.
This is what consistent skill-building looks like.
I’m still learning, but I’m now confident enough to start supporting real clients with these systems.

Slack vs Email — How a VA Manages Client Communication Professionally

If your client uses Slack or Microsoft Teams and you do not know how to use it, you will lose the job

before you start.

Most professional businesses have moved off email for internal communication.

They use Slack or Microsoft Teams.

Here is what a VA needs to know:

On Slack:

Use channels the right way — never dump random messages in general

Set your status so clients know when you are available

Use threads to reply to specific messages — do not clutter the channel

Turn on notifications only for what matters

On Microsoft Teams:

Join the right teams and channels for your client

Use the Files tab to share documents — not just in the chat

Schedule and join meetings directly from Teams

Golden rules for both tools:

Respond within an agreed time window — not immediately but not hours later

Be professional even in casual channels

Never send voice notes unless your client does

The VA who communicates well on these platforms gets long-term clients.

🔥 Most Business Owners Don’t Need More Tools.

They Need Better Systems
You can have Gmail.
Google Drive.
Google Sheets.
But if everything is disorganized…
You’re still wasting time every single day.
Here’s what I’ve learned as a Virtual Assistant:
📌 It’s not about working harder
📌 It’s about setting up systems that work for you
For example:
A messy inbox = missed opportunities
A messy Drive = lost files & stress
No tracking system = confusion every day
💡 Simple systems fix all of this:
✔ Organized inbox (Inbox Zero)
✔ Structured Google Drive
✔ Clear tracking in Sheets
When your systems are clean,
your business runs smoother — even when you’re offline.
That’s the real goal.

🔥 My Honest Week 1 as a Virtual Assistant Student

I thought Week 1 would be basic…
It wasn’t.
I came in thinking:
“Gmail, Google Drive… simple stuff.”
But I quickly realized — it goes way deeper than that.
I learned about Inbox Zero and how much system thinking it actually requires.
I learned proper file organization — naming, permissions, folder structure.
I even started using Google Sheets for tracking and reporting.
By Day 3, I was honestly overwhelmed.
By Day 5, things started to make sense.
By Day 6, I built a full Google Drive system from scratch… and I was proud of it.
💡 Week 1 isn’t just about learning tools.
It’s about learning how to think like someone responsible for other people’s work.
That mindset shift?
That’s what really changed things for me.

Gov’t to establish specialised courts for cybercrime prosecution – Sam George

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has announced that government is taking steps to establish specialised courts dedicated to the prosecution of cybercrime cases.

According to him, the initiative forms part of government’s broader commitment to strengthening Ghana’s legal and institutional frameworks to effectively tackle growing cybersecurity threats.

Speaking at the official launch of the 2025 National Cyber Security Awareness Month, themed “Building a Safe Digital Space,” Mr George highlighted the importance of stronger enforcement structures.
