The opening of Water Memory exhibition curated by Elikplim Akorli features a body of works from artists ki_ssiwaa at the Elmina Castle.

Using art as a creative response to release the trauma of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, we hope to add to the sparks of healing, anchoring, and rebirth, while honouring the ancestors.

This exhibition is anchored via text using poetry to create a dimension that calls for an aspect of the psyche for a release, reconnection to the body which is the store house of knowledge and history that has been passed from generation to generation without query.

In essence, it’d tap into using this knowledge as a catalyst to transmuting the trauma of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.

A lot is going to be unearthed as we share the space and exchange energy.
