Today, we paused as a party and a family to honour the man who gave us our beginning. Together with H.E. John Dramani Mahama, Council of Elders, comrades, and party faithful, we commemorated the life and legacy of our founder, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, by renaming our National Headquarters in his honour and unveiling a bust in his memory.

​For many of us who have dedicated the better part of our lives to this party, the moment was deeply personal. We remembered the man, his conviction, and the Ghana he believed was possible; a Ghana built on probity, accountability, and the dignity of the ordinary person.

​He gave himself fully to a cause greater than himself, and he asked the same of all who walked with him. That is the true measure of the man we honoured today.

​Ultimately, his legacy is not kept alive merely by a name on a building or bronze in a courtyard. It lives in the ideals we uphold, the discipline we maintain, and the service we render to the people of Ghana every single day.

That is the tribute that matters, and that is the one we must keep paying.

For many of us, Friday afternoon is when the workload begins to ease.
But for others, still, the weekend carries its own calendar.

Saturdays and Sundays are when I am out with comrades, friends and family: at funerals to mourn with the bereaved, at outdoorings to welcome new life, at weddings, festivals, and community gatherings across the country, and in church on Sunday to give thanks for it all.

These engagements are where the real conversations happen, away from the formality of the office.
To everyone I will meet at this weekend's gatherings, I look forward to the handshakes, the conversations, and the thoughts we will share.

Hoping everyone gets a clear, restful head start into the weekend.

Yesterday, I joined comrades, party faithful, and supporters to celebrate the 34th Anniversary of the National Democratic Congress under the theme, “Celebrating 34 Years of Democracy, Unity and Progress.”

The occasion offered an opportunity to reflect on a journey that many of us have been privileged to be part of from the very beginning, the challenges we have faced, the progress we have made, and the enduring values that continue to guide our party.

As we celebrate this milestone, may we remain united in purpose and committed to building a more prosperous, inclusive, and democratic Ghana for generations to come.
