at one a.m you’re the long-lost son of ama ata aidoo, pure genius, emotions and metaphors doing backflips. then morning comes, you reread and start editing like, which part of this country hurt me this badly in this stanza? +mp

I am learning to sit with my wins without flinching and to share them with those who’ve held me up. Last week, I got a new poem in Hummingbird Journal, Issue 2, Ghana’s Histories. And tonight, a text from ablotsi tells me that a poem I randomly recorded during a session in Europe has been commissioned for a cause that matters. Keep writing, even though the wheel of time grinds slow through Pokuase-Amasaman traffic, still it takes everyone home, though not without a few casualties along the way🤍

my prayer, for the hour when heaven remembers the poet.

Father in heaven,
Emmanuel, God with us,
Each day here is my last chance
to be remembered into vast tributes
and despair.

Before my coming home to you,
make this heart your dwelling,
a sacred haven of your presence,
where you breathe eternal poems
for us, your beloved zion.

Long am I of dust and memory.
Let these poems be known as you are
Infinite,
Man to whom the earth returned.

Oh Father in heaven.

Amen.
