Story lovers of York! If you need your regular fix of powerful, funny, witty storytelling, get ye along to rise (Bluebird Bakery) on 11 April for the incredible Stephe Harrop and her QUEENS OF ALBION. It's a wild story of Britain's earliest days and the women who shaped them.

Feeling soaked in 'greening power' after our first performance of HILDEGARDeners last night at rise in York. Our packed out audience was amazing - they sang, they drummed, they discovered the joys of Nerve Biscuits and what their medieval temperament is.

So it turns out that a storytelling cabaret about a 12th century visionary nun is, in fact, a thing....

Thanks to the fabulous Lara McClure for introducing the audience (in her inimitable style) to medieval anchoresses.

We are sold out at our next performance at Forest of Flowers. But we are ready to induct more roomfuls of Hildegardeners in other interesting venues in York and beyond!

Sometimes, just very occasionally, the miraculous happens and you discover an adderstone CRISP!
It seems to work just as well as the stone version, in terms of allowing a glimpse of the 'other world '.

This is our new book. Our Codex. It has no words in it as yet. It's waiting for them. Hildegard's words! - it will pay a crucial part in HILDEGARDeners.

Your chance to be among the first to be inducted as a Hildegardener! Come to rise (Bluebird Bakery, Acomb) on 6 March and meet Hildegard of Bingen - visionary, composer, scientist, healer, proto-ecologist, rebel. Not what you'd expect from a 12th century nun with migraines.

There will be all kinds of craic, AND the amazing Lara McClure will kick the evening's shenanigans off with a resonant story or two of her own.

What better way to mark the weekend of International Women's Day? In honour of Hildegard's connection with healing, a proportion of proceeds will go to Medical Aid for Palestinians.
