✨ WE’RE BACK — AND THIS TIME, IT’S PANTO! 👑✨

We’re delighted to announce that Theatre My Way will be working with Rowntree Players to bring an Audio Described performance of Sleeping Beauty to the The Joseph Rowntree Theatre on Sunday 6th December at. 14:00.

The accessible performance will include:

🎧 Live Audio Description throughout the performance
🎙️ Audio Introduction before the show
🖐️ Touch Tour, giving audience members the opportunity to explore the set, costumes and props before the curtain goes up.

Rowntree Players have been championing accessibility for the last two years, offering Audio Introductions and Touch Tours for their productions and this year they’re taking it even further.

They’re also offering a Captioned and Interpreted performance on Saturday 12th December at 14:00, supporting Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences to experience the magic of Sleeping Beauty too. 🎭

We believe theatre should be an experience that everyone can enjoy, explore and be part of and we’re incredibly proud to be working alongside Rowntree Players to make that happen.

Who’s a good theatre-goer then? 🐾

One of our favourite audience members at the first Audio Described performance of Guys and Dolls had four legs, a wagging tail and impeccable theatre manners! Meet Merlin 🥰

We were delighted to welcome, Merlin, the wonderful assistance dog and their owner, Julie, to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre. We have to say, they were absolutely paw-fect throughout the performance and didn’t make a single sound!

Pictured here is the theatre’s Duty Manager, Barbara, who had a very special friend keeping them company before the show. We think they were both having a paws-itively great time!

It’s not every day you have a VIP (Very Important Pup) in the audience, and they certainly stole a few hearts in the foyer.

Accessible theatre is about making sure everyone can enjoy the magic of live performance and that includes the incredible assistance dogs who help make it possible.

We’d definitely give this theatre visit two paws up!

Exploring the world of Guys and Dolls before the curtain rose…

Our Touch Tour gave audience members the opportunity to explore the set, costumes and props, meet members of the cast, and build a picture of the production ahead of the performance.

A huge thank you to Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company for making the experience so welcoming and memorable.

Today marked a significant milestone…

This afternoon, Theatre My Way was incredibly proud to deliver the first ever Audio Described performance at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre during the matinee performance of Guys and Dolls by Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company.

Alongside the live Audio Description, audience members also experienced a pre-show Touch Tour and Audio Introduction, helping to bring the visual world of the production to life before the show.

It has been a truly wonderful experience, and we’re so grateful to the theatre, the production team, the cast, volunteers and everyone who helped make today possible. This is an important step towards making theatre more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

We’ll be sharing more about today’s experience over the coming days, but for now we’re simply celebrating this special moment.

There’s still one more chance to catch this fantastic production of Guys and Dolls at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy this classic musical, brought to life by a talented cast and creative team.

Dress rehearsal is complete, and what an evening it was.

We are now looking forward to Saturday 11th July at 2.30pm, when The Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company
presents the first Audio Described performance in the history of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre.

Alongside live Audio Description, audience members who have booked the accessible performance will also have the opportunity to experience a pre-show Touch Tour and Audio Introduction, helping to bring the visual world of Guys and Dolls to life.
