Looking forward to taking our production of Don Giovanni to the Drayton Festival Theatre I Market Drayton .This will be our first visit and we are hoping to attract an audience from the surrounding areas of Whitchurch etc.
We had full houses for our Cosi fan Tutte and Carmen last year at the Civic Hall in Whitchurch, which has sadly had to close due to Raac concrete being found in the building.
If we get a good audience in Market Drayton we can make our visit a regular event..
Please support North Wales Opera Company and Studio which is providing top class training and performing opportunities for upcoming young talented Opera singers.

This is happening tonight in Capel Mawr Rhosllanerchrugog LL14 2ED..in honor of the memory of Lottie Williams Parry who contributed so much to the Rhos and Wrexham areas musical life. Over the years Lottie put on some epic concerts, oratorios, opera evenings etc in Capel Mawr and Bethlehem. She brought some famous singers of the day to Rhos and gave young singers like myself performing opportunities and experience .
Please come along and support us so we can do more of the same..bringing back magnificent and inspiring music to resound in these wonderful buildings once more ❤️ 🎶

North Wales Opera Company and Studio are delighted that Charlie Kelso is returning to make her debut as Donna Anna with us. Charlie sang a fabulous Musetta in our production of La Boheme last Christmas so we can't wait to hear her Donna Anna.
Charlie will be performing at the Drayton Festival Theatre August 2nd and 3rd..tickets on sale now.

Charlotte Kelso is an Australian soprano and recent graduate of the Royal College of Music, where she completed a Master of Performance as an RCM Scholar studying under Peter Savidge and Joseph Ramadan. Her studies were kindly supported by the Friends of State Opera South Australia. At the RCM, Charlotte created the role of Ingrid in Richie Johnsen’s opera Three Penelopes (RCM/Tête-à-Tête), and performed scenes from Les Pecheurs des Perles (Leïla), and L’amico Fritz (Suzel). She was a finalist in the 2021 Lies Askonas Competition, and was the sole soprano finalist only four months after transitioning from mezzo-soprano to soprano. Recently, Charlotte was a grand finalist in the 2023 Llangollen International Eisteddfod’s Pendine International Voice of the Future. Charlotte was also a finalist in the 2023 Opera Foundation for Young Australians’ Deutsche Oper Berlin and Michael Byrne Vienna State Opera Awards. In 2022 and 2023, Charlotte participated in the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices in Nevada, studying on the American Wagner Project under Luana DeVol and John Parr. Her position in both years was generously sponsored by The Wagner Society of Washington D.C.

Most recently, Charlotte sang the soprano solos in Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass and the Poulenc Gloria at Huddersfield Town Hall and Manchester Cathedral with St George’s Singers and the Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra. Charlotte also recently performed Musetta in La Boheme for North Wales Opera, and she looks forward to returning to North Wales to debut Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. She will then go on to reprise the role in Amsterdam with the International Belcanto Academy.

As a mezzo, Charlotte was a 2018 Emerging Artist with State Opera South Australia (SOSA). She made her debut with SOSA as a soloist in their Keep the Home Fires Burning WW1 gala concert, and performed Peep-Bo in The Mikado, and the title role in Edwards’ Christina’s World. The latter performance earned her a 2019 Adelaide Critics Circle nomination for Emerging Artist of the Year. In the 2020 Adelaide Festival, Charlotte covered Dodo in Scottish Opera’s Breaking the Waves (Mazzoli).

I'm absolutely thrilled to announce that Icelandic bass Stefán Arngrímsson will be joining North Wales Opera Company and Studio to sing the role of The Commendatore in our Don Giovanni on August 1st at Llangollen Town Hall.
Stefan was a student of David's when he was travelling regularly to Iceland to teach. Stefan is visiting North Wales for the first time with his wife and is particularly looking forward to being in Llangollen. .
We are honoured to have him ..it will be great experience for our students to work with and sing along side such a seasoned performer ..

Stefán Arngrímsson (born Akureyri, Iceland August 9 1960). Icelandic bass. Studied at the Reykjavik School of Singing 1983-1988, where his voice teachers included Guðmundur Jónsson, Þuríður Pálsdóttir, Kristinn Hallsson, and Eiður Gunnarsson. Following his graduation, he studied with Pier Miranda Ferraro in Milan for two years. Later he would study with Manfred Schenk, David Bartleet, Kristján Jóhannson, and David Jones. He has attended master classes with Andreas Schmidt, Anthony Hose, Corado Cassati, and Gerrit Schuil. He debuted in 1986 in the role of Dr. Dulcamara, in a student production of L’Elesir D’Amore. Further student performances as Dr. Bartolo ( Figaro) and Sarastro would follow. His professional debut occurred the same year at the National Theatre, when he featured as the Gaoler in Tosca. For the next years he sang various parts with the National Theatre, The Reykjavik City Theatre, The Akureyri Municipal Theatre, The East Iceland Opera Studio, and The Skagafjörður Opera Company. Roles include Colline, Baltasar, Padre Guardiano, Il Commendatore, Seneca, Heremit, Sparafucile, Don Basilio, Il Grande Inquisitore, Rocco, Daland, and even the odd venture into the bass-baritone fach as Porgy. Mr. Arngrímsson possesses a rich, dark coloured, large true basso profondo voice wich is ideally suited to the works of Verdi and Wagner.
