Our name is a playful conceit which refers to “artists of the Connaught Theatre”. We are a new professional theatre company based in Worthing with the aim of bringing together local artists to collaborate on producing exciting work and make a positive contribution to regional theatre in modern society. We believe that quality live theatre should continue to play a part in not only the Connaught’s

future but also at other regional theatres as well. Therefore, our aim is to regularly produce work that starts its life in Worthing which we then take out on tour; striving to create a vibrant and energised in-house and touring theatre company in one. An old definition for the word “con” is “learn by heart” and we infer this as our guiding principle to also mean “listen to our heart” by doing what we love to do; producing theatre that is exciting and alive to the best of our ability for the public benefit.

We’ve been quiet recently 🤫 but we’ve been working on something…

Conn Artists are delighted to announce their next production will be a new staging of Charlotte Brontë's gothic romance Jane Eyre.

Following on from their hugely successful adaptation of Thomas Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd which toured Spring 2025, Nick Young and Ross Muir have re-united to adapt Jane Eyre in Conn Artists' trademark stye for an ensemble cast of 5 actors with original music and songs. The set will be designed by Laura Kimber with lighting design by Matthew Pike.

The production is presented in association with Theatre Royal Wi******er: Part of Play to the Crowd and will open in Wi******er on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 and tour through-out the UK until early Spring 2027.

We do love some audience feedback 😍🥰.

‘We wanted to pass on how much we enjoyed this vivacious retelling of the classic novel. The fact this was conveyed by such a diminutive ensemble, double and triple cast to portray the toils of heart and rural life, is really deserving of congratulation.

We found your version to be innovatively staged and enjoyed the singing, instrumentation and sprinkling of humour. Bravo .

We wanted to reassure these hard working actors that their efforts were much appreciated and we wish them well in what looks to be a huge and potentially gruelling tour. Thank you for a highly enjoyable evening. ‘
