Wirral African Residents

Wirral African Residents Motto, African unites, let’s build a better community here in Wirral, and leave a legacy for our children to make this place a better place

Be inspired, change will come only if we believe it and work to achieve it. The Wirral African Residents is an organization committed to educating, enriching, and empowering residents through a variety of educational, cultural and performing arts, programs, activities, and exhibits that promote awareness and raise the collective consciousness of all ethnicities to the rich and vibrant history, con

tribution, and culture of African Americans. The organisation seeks to strengthen communities by fostering unity, self-determination, cooperative economics, collective work, and creativity. We are dedicated to inspiring adults, children and youth to serve as agents of change, cultivating their leadership skills and fostering a commitment to community service and activism. In addition, we encourage, support and promote the work force, aspiring black and racial minorities on the Wirral and the wider community. We also strive to develop partnerships with organizations that are similarly committed to our mission, and offer our space to the community for special events. Culture & Traditions

African cultures are represented in many forms of music, dance, art, and storytelling. With more than 1,000 languages spoken and many different religions and tribes, Africa is rich in cultural diversity. Africans also have remarkable diversity, with notable differences across the Wirral and region. Families often include immediate and extended relatives, with a group-oriented worldview and a strong sense of shared community. For this and other cultures that value a lifestyle of cooperation and sharing, activities that involve tactile learning and cooperative grouping may be particularly effective, as they parallel the context for learning found in the cultures. Wirral African Residents

* To provide music and selected menus African /Caribbean dishes.
* To establish a prime venue for culture and music.
* To attract people from the region and beyond.
* To provide other opportunities in entertainment and hospitality for Africans. The Wirral African Residents is a community based cultural organization. Our mission is to empower our community through Afro-centric cultural expression, mediums, education and programming. Our history goes back to 2000, starting with a weekly forum in Charing Cross Neighbourhood centre. Wirral African residents, is part of Wirral BRM Voice, formerly Wirral African Caribbean Community Voice, {WACCV.}

We have chosen this name to collectively identify our community or people of African decent living on the Wirral. Yes we know many people have lived here for many years, and most recently newly arrived people, across the whole of Wirral 22 wards, isolation, loneliness, and personal issues have added to the many barriers for Africans to be socialize. Culturally, the lack of places to socialize and meet other Africans, have made it more difficult to meet people hence our vision and commitment.

Are you interested in our new BBC Lottery Quiz Show.
We are currently looking for couples to apply to take part in a brand new BBC Saturday night show called Win Your Wish List.

Pairs of contestants choose their dream prizes to make up their wish list, all of which have a connection to their shared history together. They face categories of questions in order to win each of their wish list prizes.

But also between them, the couple must decide which one of them will answer the questions because the other will have to ask them, and their judgement on who may know the answer will determine whether they win.
