It’s never too late to dust off your dancing shoes and dive into performing - as these three new members showed us this year!
Dave - this was a first performing arts show for him. A retired mechanical engineer, he found singing and his musical ability later in life. Dave sang out wholeheartedly with the male chorus, managing the harmonies brilliantly. We also loved his staggering, drunk look in ‘There is a Tavern in the Town’. Little did he know the ladies fussing over him, were actually pick-pocketing him during the later Cockney scenes! Apologies Dave - we will return your gold coins!😘
Cristina - a trained actress, but performing oportunities had been limited when growing up in Romania. We loved her being the ‘girly’ that hadn’t been seen before at Brighton in ‘Hello Hello, Who’s Your Lady Friend’ and her flirtatious sparkle in ‘Ta Ra Ra Boom-de-ay’ She took to these characters with a confidence, that was incredibly entertaining and reassuring.
Eve - another new member who has previously directed plays. Eve loves Music Hall and loves to dance and really demonstrated her enjoyment for this on stage - especially in ‘The Trolley Song’ and in ‘Ta Ra Ra…’ and she had lots of fun in the Cockney scenes. Eve was a wonderfully supportive partner on stage, who always looked out for others.
These three wonderful additions quietly, confidently and professionally got on with the job they were set - taking on the characters of their unique roles.
We need more new members like Dave, Cristina and Eve! 👏👏👏
Maybe you are thinking you’d like to perform, but haven’t yet found the opportunity. It’s never too late to get back to it after many years or try it for the first time!
You never know what talents you might find - it’s really amazing, the characters you find buried deep within….
