So exciting to finally launch the new show coming up in Feb next year. It's a fun-packed, camp frolic of a Gothic nature. Forget Halloween... February is the new fright fest! We had a great time showing members of the company the concept, singing a couple of numbers and of course there was plenty of food (again). If you want to get your ghoul going why not join us for the workshop on 18th Sept when we put a couple of numbers from the show on their feet.

We had our first rehearsal in ages on Sunday as we're preparing for on Saturday the 10th of May.

Singfest is a great day full of music from as many singing ensembles in Merton as you can imagine. All come together to perform in 3 free concerts on the day in Wimbledon St Marks Church. Concerts start at 10am - 12noon and 3pm. You can catch yours truly doing a fab Music Hall medley and a short tribute to Broadway in the 3pm concert. There are usually a lot of home-baked cakes to be had too. Perfect for a teatime concert.

We did Singfest last year and it was such a great day - hope you can join us again.

It’s never too late to dust off your dancing shoes and dive into performing - as these three new members showed us this year!

Dave - this was a first performing arts show for him. A retired mechanical engineer, he found singing and his musical ability later in life. Dave sang out wholeheartedly with the male chorus, managing the harmonies brilliantly. We also loved his staggering, drunk look in ‘There is a Tavern in the Town’. Little did he know the ladies fussing over him, were actually pick-pocketing him during the later Cockney scenes! Apologies Dave - we will return your gold coins!😘

Cristina - a trained actress, but performing oportunities had been limited when growing up in Romania. We loved her being the ‘girly’ that hadn’t been seen before at Brighton in ‘Hello Hello, Who’s Your Lady Friend’ and her flirtatious sparkle in ‘Ta Ra Ra Boom-de-ay’ She took to these characters with a confidence, that was incredibly entertaining and reassuring.

Eve - another new member who has previously directed plays. Eve loves Music Hall and loves to dance and really demonstrated her enjoyment for this on stage - especially in ‘The Trolley Song’ and in ‘Ta Ra Ra…’ and she had lots of fun in the Cockney scenes. Eve was a wonderfully supportive partner on stage, who always looked out for others.

These three wonderful additions quietly, confidently and professionally got on with the job they were set - taking on the characters of their unique roles.

We need more new members like Dave, Cristina and Eve! 👏👏👏

Maybe you are thinking you’d like to perform, but haven’t yet found the opportunity. It’s never too late to get back to it after many years or try it for the first time!

You never know what talents you might find - it’s really amazing, the characters you find buried deep within….

On - a shout out to these inspiring women who sang ‘Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree’ (made famous by Glenn Miller and The Andrews Sisters and ‘She Sits Among the Cabbages & Peas’ - made famous by Marie Lloyd - renowned Music Hall performer.

The talented Mary and Clare were both wonderful new members this year and were a brilliant addition to our group. The lovely Anne was also performing with us for the first time (having diligently helped with props in previous years). The entertaining Sharan is an old timer having been in a number of shows (we loved her twinkle in the eye, peeping over her glasses during ‘Cabbages & Peas’). Oh and let’s not forget the ending line in the verse of Cabbages & Peas ‘That she’s got a very lovely pair of hips’ - sang so sweetly by Anne.

We are an inclusive group that always welcomes new members and new ideas, but most importantly, we have a lot of fun and make wonderful friendships!

Maybe you’ll join us next time…
