Recently, I visited an exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian artists at BobCat Gallery in London. As always, I didn’t get the chance to share my impressions earlier, but this show truly deserves a few words.
I loved the atmosphere: light, open, and filled with a sense of space and color. It’s not about politics or specific narratives, but about mood, rhythm, and calm — a floral playfulness born from the dialogue of colors and forms.
One painting especially stood out — a work depicting small children by .At first glance, it feels tender and fragile, yet beneath that softness lies a deep sorrow. These are the children whom the war in Ukraine has left orphaned, wounded, or taken forever. The artist speaks of loss not through shouting, but through silence, form, and texture.
This exhibition shows how art can both soothe and ache, how color can tell a story when words can no longer do so. It leaves a sense of freshness — something often missing in a big city.
