❗️ Important Notice❗️
We regret to inform you that the One Act Play Festival in February has been cancelled due to a lack of entries 😔 This wasn’t an easy decision, and we understand it may be disappointing for those who were looking forward to the event.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their interest, encouragement, and continued support of the Caithness festival

We hope to see you all again in 2027, and we look forward to welcoming you back then 🎭

It’s Panto week for both our Caithness district local players. Always such a fun time of year & the productions never fail to showcase the amazing local talent we have in Caithness.

We heard that last nights opening night of Robinson Crusoe & the pirates by Wick Players was a huge success with lots of belly laughs, fantastic amateur dramatics & a dame full of sass & sparkle. We wish you all well for the rest of the week, break a leg 🎭

Tonight brings the opening night of The Snow Queen by Thurso Players we are sure this will be a fabulous production with some great acting & wish them all the very best for a fantastic week of drama in Thurso. Break a leg 🎭

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of our dear friend and fellow SCDA member, Marina Macdonald.

Marina gave so much of herself to community drama here in Caithness. She served with dedication as Secretary on the District Committee, and her own entries into the Festival will forever be remembered and appreciated. Her love of the stage and her boundless enthusiasm for amateur theatre inspired all who had the privilege to work alongside her.

Marina’s warmth, encouragement, and commitment leave a legacy that will not be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by her friends throughout the district and beyond.

Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this difficult time.

The attached picture shows a play which Marina held close to her heart – “The Steamie” produced by Wick Players in 1996 (Marina, far right).

Huge congratulations to Thurso Players who came out on top last night in Nairn at the SCDA Highland Divisional festival. Onwards to the Scottish Finals for Audrey and her fantastic cast. Well done all 🎭

What a fantastic evening celebrating the incredible talent and dedication of all the performers, directors, and backstage crews who brought these one-act plays to life.

🏆 A huge congratulations to THURSO PLAYERS for their outstanding performance and well-earned victory! 👏 Their hard work and passion shone through, and we have no doubt they will represent Caithness brilliantly in Nairn this April at the Highland Divisional Open Final. 🎭

A massive thank you also goes out to the teams who participated—you captivated the audience with your creativity, storytelling, and stagecraft. These festivals wouldn’t be possible without the commitment and enthusiasm of everyone involved, from the actors and production teams to the organisers, adjudicators, and, of course, the wonderful audience who came out to support local theatre. Thank you all
