Bakewell Day of Dance 27 June / WCS Workshop 28 June

Just a quick post to say the next WCS workshop is coming up on Sunday 28th June from 4pm–8pm.

This month we’ll be keeping the workshop a little shorter, with 3 hours of workshop time plus 1 hour for social dancing/hanging out afterwards. As you know, we usually book a longer social as well, but the social was quiet last month, so I’m trimming the room hire down for the summer. The cost will be £22.50. Included in the price is cake and drink, as always.

As always, the workshop is open to all levels and will focus on practical partner connection, technique, and having fun dancing together. Absolute beginners are very welcome to book, as we will fit the first session to suit those who attend.

Also, the day before the workshop — Saturday 27th June — Stuart Holloway and I will be teaching at the Bakewell Day of Dance. We’d love to see some familiar faces there if you fancy a fun day out together (and perhaps arranging some car shares!).

We’ll be teaching in the Town Hall at 11:30am, and we’d really appreciate a few people arriving around 11:15am to help dance with and encourage people who want to learn.

There’s also a 25-minute team dance/demo at 4pm at the Riverside Garden venue. We still have room for a couple of followers and two more couples to join in. The format will be:

One freestyle dance
One routine that volunteers can learn remotely beforehand

Don't forget, we have a West Coast swing social dance from 6 until 9 p.m. at The Engine Shed tomorrow, when 3 DJs will be playing their favourite tunes. Join us from 6 o'clock if you aren't attending the workshops, £10 on the door. Squash, coffee, tea and water will be provided but you can bring your own drinks too.

Stuart Holloway is joining Dawn in teaching this month. Starting dancing in 1997 at a local line dance class, Stuart explored many styles of dance over the years, including line dancing, street dance, contemporary, and ballroom. Over the last seven years, his main focus has been West Coast Swing. In the past year, he has been teaching for various workshops and weekly classes, as well as teaching and competing at events across the UK and Europe.

Absolute beginners class in Wetherby for those who have never tried West Coast Swing dancing or want to build on their first steps.
Booking is helpful but you can just turn up at 2:45pm ready to start at 3pm!
