Chiltern Hundreds NW Morris We are a team of dancers and musicians based in Watford performing dances from North West England

We are a group of dancers who perform with our live musicians at events such as a Day of Dance, or Folk Festival. We dance in the style of North West Morris, characterized by the wearing of clogs, carrying sticks/bobbins or cotton mollies, and is vigorous and highly entertaining. In the Autumn we take on new would-be recruits and provide weekend instruction so they are able to perform as new members from the following Spring - this requires attendance in the Watford area.

A mere fortnight today - or 11th April whichever comes sooner !! - and Chilts will once again be dancing in Oxford. That's us a year ago by the Castle saving energy by only using one leg.
Can't say for sure exactly where and when, but we are often to be found between 10am and 4pm variously at...
Oxford Castle, the Ashmolean, in Broad Street, by the Radcliffe Camera (Catte St.) and at Bonn Square.

Chilts would like to wish all our friends and followers a Joyous and Happy New Year 2026.
We're happy because our new performance season is about to commence - 17th January at the Whittlesea Straw Bear Festival.
No bears were hurt in the making of this film in 2025....

In Hawaii they Hula, They Tango in Argentina
They Reggae in Jamaica, And they Rumba down in Cuba,
In Trinidad and Tobago, They do the Calypso
And in Spain the Spanish, They really do Flamenco.

In the Punjab they Bhangra, How they dance Kathak in India
Over in Guatemala, They dance the sweet Marimba,
Even foxes dance a lot, They invented the Fox Trot,
In Australia it's true, They dance to the Didgeridoo.

In Kenya they Benga, They Highlife in Ghana
They dance Ballet all over, And Rai dance in Algeria,
They Jali in Mali, In Brazil they Samba
And the girls do Belly Dancing, In the northern parts of Africa.

Everybody does the Disco, From Baghdad to San Francisco
Many folk with razzamataz, Cannot help dancing to Jazz,
They do the Jig in Ireland, And it is really true
They still Morris dance in England, When they can find time to.'
