For all who love an Agatha Christie mystery, Saturday night the audience at the Backyard Theatre Watchet were treated to a terrific performance by Liz Grande from On -a-role Theatre Company. What motivated Christie to disappear for 11 days prompting a nationwide search? A fast paced delivery of the possible reasons behind a real – life mystery held the audience captive. It was an absorbing performance with believable justifications as to what had triggered her uncharacteristic behaviour. We can’t wait to have Liz Grande back next year in another of her celebrated dramas

Great show Saturday night at the Backyard Theatre, as Pantaloons Theatre Company acted their socks off. We couldn’t fail to be impressed by the actor’s adaptability in lieu of such an enormous script and the multiple parts three of the four of them played. Many laughs and in true Pantaloon style innovative action with their interplay between the audience and one another. Great Stuff!

Exciting New Show: A Room Of One's Own

A regular fixture at the Edinburgh Fringe, the work of Dyad Productions has been a critical, 5-star, sell-out success since 2009, we are so fortunate to have them come to Backyard Theatre.

Written between the wars Woolfe’s ‘A Room of One’s Own’ was a pioneering examination of the restrictions placed on women by a patriarchal society that did not recognise women as equal to men.
Just check out their reviews below and be quick to secure a seat for yourself:

Praise for Dyad Productions: ★★★★★ ‘A towering performance‘ (The Scotsman) ★★★★★ ‘A luscious sweeping tale’ (The i) ★★★★★ ‘Truly extraordinary… one of the most exciting young performers on the British Stage’ (British Theatre Guide) ★★★★★ ‘Quite simply: it’s astounding’ (Broadway Baby) ★★★★★ ’Outstanding…gripping… Vaughan is never less than magnetic’ (Three Weeks) ‘Perfection… Vaughan is simply sublime’ (Huffington Post).

What a treat we were given with Multistory’s beautiful show at the BYT last night. It was a terrific performance from the cast whose engaging interplay with one another had the audience hooked as to whether a relationship between them with a shared interest in Tango could survive distance and time. Working on many levels, the beautiful subplot of Pacha Mama ( Mother Earth) became their undoing with the selfless realisation that whatever was developing between them would impact generations to come if they continued to fly across the world.

From Egyptian Mummies, aliens, ghosts, witches to Roman soldiers what a fun mix of varied and delightful skits were brought to all those who attended the finale shows of the best of The Steaming Coasters’ last weekend at the BYT.

The cast and crew were tremendous not only in their professional delivery but the enthusiasm that oozed out of the delivery of all their sketches.

Well done to the cast and crew. Great job!

It was great to receive feedback from audience members this morning with reference to last night’s show from Bonnet Dog Theatre Company: ‘A Knight of Terror’

Mel Woollams said that its Schoolboy humour made her “. . .chuckle throughout.”

Anne Hele emailed to say:

“Great show last night. What a talented pair of actors”

Dare I say the strangling with a string of sausages at the end was ludicrously hilarious.

So here is a heads up to the next show with its ticket launch today. The wonderful Liz Grande is playing one of the most famous crime writers of all time- Agatha Christie In ‘Where is Mrs Christie?’ at The Backyard on June 6th. Do take a look at the Website, check out the blurb and don’t waste time ‘thinking about’ booking this show. If you haven’t already please sign up for the email that announces when tickets are ‘Live ‘ for shows and be sure to click on it so your ‘activity’ pushes you further up the email drop.
