About Kay
Cheshire’s award winning still life portrait artist, Kay Ashton, is based in Warrington where she has lived for most of her life, although she was born and lived in Salford up until the age of 14 when she moved to Birchwood with her family. Kay specialises in still life - mainly her favourite subjects being food and drink - as well as flowers and non-traditional portraiture in her recognisable realism style. Her favoured medium is oil, although she also works in pastels and graphite. As any artist will tell you, one has to dabble in other media and genre from time to time in order to grow, learn and evolve. Sometimes Kay will release a body of work which is not her usual style which can be refreshing - for her and her followers. She always returns to what she loves to do most, and what her fanbase love,too.
