Thanks everyone who came to The Red Shed last night for our monthly disco! A splendid night full of absolute tunes and a couple of unexpected surprises - from the 60s psych right up to the 00s skate rock, via a healthy dollop of disco, soul and banging synth-pop 😘

(Who knew "Head Like A Hole" by NiN segues really well into "I've Had The Time Of My Life" by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes? Consider me schooled!)

I'm back on Sat 3 Oct for a Rock & Indie Special, so we'll be hitting the 90s *hard*! See you on the dancefloor 💃🏼🪩🕺🏼

BACK AT THE SHED THIS SATURDAY! 🤩

Mrs R's Retro Roadshow is back spinning the discs at The Red Shed, Wakefield this coming Sat 5 Sep, with classic dancefloor lights and a bangin' vibe all dealt from original 7" vinyl singles by a proper disc jockey!

Needle goes down at 7pm for everything from 50s rock'n'roll to 00s skate rock, 80s synth and a bit of Northern Soul and Motown thrown in. Where the night goes is up to you - requests are welcome and the dancefloor is OPEN 💃🏼🪩🕺🏼

In today's "Ridiculous Finds", might I introduce you to Claudio Cecchetto's track "Gioca Jouer", an original 1981 party song which was covered by Black Lace two years later in English, titled "Superman" 🫣

Pretty much arrangement-identical to the Black Lace re-record, this original one is a little more rough round the edges, but worth it if only for the other Mrs R walking around the house going "Macho!" occasionally... maybe I should keep it in the novelty section which comes with me to discos 😆

BIRTHDAYS, WEDDINGS, OFFICE PARTIES & VENUES - I'M BOOKING UP THE REST OF 2026 & INTO 2027! 🤩

From the 50s all the way up to the 00s, from pop to rock, Northern Soul to ska, funk to skate punk, it's a proper retro mobile disco just like they used to be - all played from original 7" vinyl singles by a real, actual, proper disc jockey! 🎶

I've got a few premium dates left (including Hallowe'en, Boxing Day and New Years' Eve), fab for office parties looking for something different (and maybe the little bit of joyful chaos the Roadshow can bring!) 🥳

There's also some last-minute availability on a few weekends, if you've not got round to booking a disc jockey for your party then DM me for availability or throw me a WhatsApp.

We're based in Wakefield but now cover most of the UK. Whether it's a big stage or the corner of a bar, the Roadshow can be tailored to your venue and party. Drop me a line, let's get something in the diary - and I'll see you on the dancefloor!

On the workbench this week, almost ready to come with me on the road: a set of "Comus" light boxes from a disco in Rochdale! All that's missing is a single red light in the pattern, then we'll be good to go 🙌🏻

What folk don't always realise is that I refurb and safety-check all the kit: it might be original, but it's got to be tested, checked and made the best it can be for the dancefloor 🤩

A quiet morning play-testing new acquisitions while I work. I mean, I *say* quiet, but this split-A is anything but! Will go well alongside NiN and the other goth rock 🤘🏻

(I think this means I now have 7 different versions of "Tainted Love" in the stash. I usually only carry the Soft Cell and original Gloria Jones versions, but I think this might be added too...)
