Weโ€™re excited to host Girl Gang Manchester's Build A Better Future Book Club on 30 March, discussing The Intersectional Environmentalist: How to Dismantle Systems of Oppression to Protect People + Planet by Leah Thomas

Join in person at Whitworth Locke or online via Zoom.

Leah Thomas coined the term 'intersectional environmentalism' to describe the inextricable link between climate change, activism, racism and privilege. The fight for the planet should go hand in hand with the fight for civil rights. In fact, one cannot exist without the other. This book is a call to action, a guide to instigating change for all and a pledge to work toward the empowerment of all people and the betterment of the planet - an indispensable primer for activists looking to create meaningful, inclusive and sustainable change. Driven by Leah's expert voice and complemented by the words of young activists from around the globe, it is essential reading on the issue - and the movement - that will define a generation.

Build A Better Future Book Club #11: Leah Thomas: The Intersectional Environmentalist โ€“ Whitworth Locke / Online, Thu 30 Mar 2023 - Build A Better Future Book Club from Girl Gang Manchester Stimulus, discussion, co-learning, and action to create a more equitable world for all. --------------------...

The recent IPCC report reveals the inevitability of sea level rise as part of the climate crisis.

On Thursday, No Planet B presents: Beasts of the Southern Wild + Irma at Catford Mews, introduced by Lisa Cruz, animator and director of Irma. Although made nearly ten years ago, Beasts of the Southern Wild feels increasingly relevant since it shows a community directly impacted by sea level rise. Irma presents a child's perspective on a hurricane in the Caribbean.

Join us this Thursday for thought-provoking films & conversations about climate action: catford-mews.co.uk/whats-on/no-planet-b-presents-beasts-of-the-southern-wild

What are the key takeaways from the IPCC new study on the science of climate change?
