For over three decades, Meekyoung Shin has explored themes of transformation, replication, and cultural translation through sculptures made from soap.

'Korean Classic: In Use' places soap sculptures inspired by forms familiar to generations of Korean art students within everyday public spaces across London. Rather than remaining fixed artworks, the sculptures gradually change through touch, use, and time, challenging conventional ideas of permanence, preservation, and value.

The works will later be presented at the in September 2026, exploring what escapes the museum's systems of preservation, recording, archiving, and classification. Carrying the traces accumulated through everyday encounters at each site, the sculptures return not as fixed objects, but as records of use, change, and lived experience.

The project is presented across several locations in London, including the Korean Cultural Centre UK, SOAS University of London, Delfina Foundation, Café Babka, Gaia Food & Drinks, and SOOM Restaurant.

If you spot Meekyoung's sculptures in London, send us your photos📷️

'Korean Traditional Painting in Alter-age: Pure and Hybrid' presents a unique dialogue between the masterpieces from the late Joseon Dynasty through the twentieth century and contemporary painters. This June, we're marking 50 years of Korean film preservation with a very special screening — one of the most daring and visually stunning films of its era.
Adapted from the wildly popular novel serialised in the Seoul Newspaper in 1954, 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 is set in 1956, a period of upheaval and transformation in postwar Korea. The film tells the story of Madame Oh Sun-young, a woman who appears to have an enviable life: married to a successful professor, mother to a young son, and living in one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods of postwar Seoul.

When she accepts a job selling imported luxury goods, Madame Oh is introduced to a new social world, filled with exciting acquaintances and modern temptations. As she begins to explore this new life, her experiences threaten to spark a scandal. Meanwhile, her husband becomes increasingly involved with one of his tutoring students, adding another layer of tension to their marriage. The introduction will be delivered by Lottie Skala, a Film Programming and Curating MA student at Birkbeck, University of London.
