First of two rehearsals last night with the fabulous Rutland Big Band in preparation for the upcoming Glenn Miller evening at the Parkway Club in a Peterborough on 5th October. Always a little nerve racking singing brand new (to me) arrangements of songs I know. Promises to be a fantastic evening.

Yes I know it's too early for the C word but it's a very special occasion. I will have the honour and indeed the pleasure once again to be singing some vintage Christmas tunes for the special guests, influencers and VIPs at the grand gala launch of the Gates Garden Centre 2024 Christmas shop on 26th September. It promises to be a spectacular evening.

My last public performance of the year will be this coming weekend... I shall be singing both Saturday and Sunday at the Operation Market Garden commemoration event at Folkingham. I actually can't wait as it promises to be a fantastic event. I shall be singing alongside some great entertainers. It's a busy weekend for me too because on the Saturday I'm also off to Cleethorpes to perform for the Penny smith school of dance at a sold out evening dance which promises to be equally exciting and even includes a sandwich (I hope 🤣🤣)

From then to the end of December I'm at private events and care homes so will continue performing.

If anyone would like to make a last minute booking I still have a few dates available for October and December. Just give me a call on 07415340311 or drop me a message on messenger.

What an incredible afternoon of singing. Today's venue was Lyncroft Care Home in Wisbech. Another of the Country Court group of homes. I have worked in several homes run by this group and always feel more than welcome and am treated like part of their family. And it really does feel like a family. A wonderful atmosphere with happy residents and guests who all had a great time dancing and singing along. Staff who clearly care deeply and are passionate about their roles. Thank you to all of the team for making the experience so rewarding and so much fun...

Just sat in the conservatory and witnessed my own personal fly past (maybe he was in his way home) by a Lancaster bomber. What a fabulous sight and sound.

Alan Jackson

Many years ago, it seems like a lifetime and indeed in some respects it was, I was only about 6 or 7 years old at the time, my parents acquired an antique gramophone. That in itself was quite a thing, but inside there were a number of old fashioned 78rpm records. These included a recording of Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. I, of course, listened and so began my love of music. Having grown into a teenager I spent many hours in my room playing my guitar and singing along to my record collection. Whilst my peers were listening to the latest music of the 1980’s such as Madness, The Pet Shop Boys and Nick Kershaw, I enjoyed a much more eclectic taste which included Steeleye Span, The Beatles, Donovan and Simon and Garfunkel. I met and eventually married my wife, Mandy, who had been involved with local theatre for a long time and inevitably introduced me to the Musical Theatre Genre. I was lucky enough to go on to take leading roles in shows such as Oklahoma, Kiss Me Kate and Anything Goes. I also became an fan of the great Hollywood musicals of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Regrettably I never learned to dance like Fred Astaire... It was this last genre that influenced my taste in swing and jazz music taking in the Rat Pack, Nat King Cole, Louis Prima and some of the wartime greats like Dame Vera Lynn, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. I found that I enjoyed most of all singing the songs from the great American Songbook which brings us up to date and where I am now, crooning my favourite songs for you as Alan Jackson - Vintage Singer.
