✨ Investing in our teachers, too ✨

We’re not only passionate about seeing our dancers learn, grow and progress, we’re equally committed to the development of our wonderful teachers.

Some of you may already know, but we’re thrilled and incredibly proud to announce that Miss Beth is now a full time member of the IDA team! 👏
She’ll be working alongside Miss Laura and our admin team behind the scenes, as well as teaching of course! ♥️

Today was Miss Beth’s very first day in the office, working from our brand new space at the studio… but more on that very soon! 👀

We’re so excited about the future of IDA and can’t wait to start bringing lots of new ideas and plans to life. Exciting times ahead for our dancers, our teachers and our whole IDA community! ✨

Children need people who believe they’re capable of MORE✨

Of course children and young people need encouragement. They need to know when they’re doing well, to have their progress recognised and to feel proud of what they achieve.

But genuine confidence isn’t built by being told everything you do is brilliant.
It’s built by learning to take a correction, work on it, improve and experience that wonderful feeling of “got it!”

At IDA, we say it all the time-

Corrections are ALWAYS compliments. 🤍

When your teacher is correcting you, it’s because they can see your potential. They know you’re capable of better and they care enough to want to see you get there.

A good teacher doesn’t allow a child to settle for their bare minimum when they know they’re capable of so much more.
And that lesson goes far beyond the dance studio.

Learning to accept feedback positively.
Learning to try again.
Learning that improvement takes patience.
Learning to strive for excellence.

Those are real life skills ✨

Because ultimately, our job isn’t just to create great dancers, it’s to develop young minds who have the confidence and resilience to think “I can do better, let me try again “ 💭

We were absolutely thrilled to be invited to perform at the official opening of the beautiful new garden at the home of our newest branch of IDA, All Hallows Church Twickenham ♥️

A small group of our dancers performed, and we were so proud of them. Everyone loved watching them dance, and it was wonderful to see IDA parents and families there supporting them and enjoying the event.

Our dancers were especially excited to meet the Mayor of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, who was so lovely and took the time to chat with them. They were particularly impressed to discover that she used to be an actress and dancer too!✨

They were also treated to a trip up into the bell tower, where they were shown around and even had a go at ringing the church bells, what a brilliant experience!
We have felt so warmly welcomed by the All Hallows community, and we're incredibly grateful to have been invited and included in such a special occasion, congratulations to all involved 👏
Thank you to All Hallows, for a truly lovely event. We absolutely love opportunities like this to connect, perform and be part of our local community.

Not every lesson needs to be exciting, and that’s okay!

Some weeks in dance are exciting, new choreography, performances, costumes, and those big breakthrough moments.
Other weeks? We repeat. And repeat. And repeat again.

We drill technique, we secure foundations, we practise the same exercise until the body understands what the brain already knows 🤍 and there’s actually something incredibly valuable in that.

Children live in a world of instant gratification, but real progress doesn’t work like that!

Learning to stick with something when it isn’t new or exciting, to keep showing up when the reward isn’t immediate, and to understand that sometimes you have to do the seemingly boring bits to get to the brilliant bits, that’s real life skills!

Because the magic isn’t always in the big moments.
Sometimes it’s quietly being built through repetition, discipline and consistency, one class at a time ✨

Work hard • Be consistent • Go full out

After all my years of teaching, one thing I know for sure is that natural ability will only take you so far.

I’ve watched children walk into the studio unable to touch their toes, without natural flexibility or strength, and flourish into the most beautiful, strong and capable dancers ✨

Not because it happened overnight, because they kept showing up ✨
Week after week, class after class. Little improvements that perhaps nobody else notices, but suddenly, you look back and realise just how far they’ve come.

For me thats where the magic is 💫

Keep showing up. Keep finding the joy in class. Keep nurturing that love of dance. Always go full out, even when you think no one is watching!
Keep working on the tiny details, even when progress feels slow. Because consistency and steady progress will always win the race 🙌

You don’t have to be the most naturally talented dancer in the room, you just have to keep going ♥️

They come for the dance. They stay for the people 🤍

Over the years, so many children have walked through our doors a little shy, perhaps lacking confidence, or simply not having quite found their people yet.

And then something happens.

They find the people who get them.

The ones who share that same love of dance, performing, music and being on stage. They train together, laugh together, support each other, celebrate the highs and pick each other up through the lows.

Friendships form that go far beyond the studio and, over time, those friendships start more like family.
Because dance is about so much more than learning steps.

It’s about connection.
It’s about belonging.
It’s about finding your people. ❤️

They may come to IDA because they love to dance.
But very often, they stay because they’ve found somewhere they belong- ALWAYS 💫
