Starts 5:30pm from outside Royal Victoria Place and finishes at Grosvenor and Hilbert Rec. The planning and making of the Winter Lantern Parade involves hundreds of people from across the borough of all different ages and abilities. The parade is run by CREATE, a tiny community arts group. Everyone involved is a volunteer but there are various running costs involved. Any donations gratefully received 🥰

A reminder of tonight's route! We come out of Calverley Precinct, turn left at the Millennium Clock, go past Wether spoons and left into Monson Road. Then down to the end of Camden Road, turn right and head towards Grosvenor and Hilbert Park.

Please note there will be road closures along the route tonight if you are driving in Tunbridge Wells. We operate a rolling road closure and try to reopen roads as soon as possible once the parade has passed. We recommend you avoid driving in this area between 5 and 6pm if possible. If you do get caught in closures, we apologise for the disruption and we'll try to get you out as soon as possible!

Prepare for take off! (Not literally we hope, it's not meant to be that windy this evening).

It's parade day!!

If you still haven't made your lantern, er yes you probably have left it too late 😂. But you can still enjoy the show. Or maybe you could help carry one of the big ones. We're often looking for volunteers to carry the big lanterns. If you might be able to help, turn up a bit early and wear gloves!

See you all in Calverley Precinct. Parade starts at 5:30pm. We go along Camden Road and finish at Grosvenor and Hilbert Park for a bit more music and some refreshments.

We've been asked if the parade is still on tomorrow. YES! Our lanterns are made of paper, not sugar 😂😂
And a little rain never stopped us before 😂

Bring your coat, an umbrella and enjoy a hot chocolate at the end 😀

Parade day tomorrow! Remember to stick with the parade all the way to the park and you can treat yourself with something tasty from Ebworth Burgers, Katie's Fizz Shack and the Fizzy Filly. The band will continue to play for a bit longer and you can get a closer look at the big lanterns on display.

Over the years we've put on parades with more or less funding, more or less organisers, and we always find a way to make it happen... But the one thing we can't scrimp on is safety. We desperately need more people to help marshall the parade so it can run smoothly and safely. If you can help, drop us a message here or at [email protected]
