“Capturing the light is my way of making a positive statement in any painting I produce. Light creates atmosphere and mood and also brings a painting to life. Ironically what gives light its strength are the dark areas painted around it. Over many years I have found that the subject becomes relatively unimportant, it is the effect of light that excites me.”

Up first is Jude Askey-Brown Jude ~ Oil Painter

“My current collection of work draws on memories of the gardens and windowsills at my grandfather’s house. Crammed full of his overwintered geraniums and cuttings taken in the autumn to plant as soon as the spring warmth appeared. The geraniums and hydrangeas were often a tangled mess of woody stems, dried leaves and flowers with glimmers of bright green new growth. The row of terracotta pots some chipped and cracked on every windowsill in his cottage and the earthy smell when he watered them.”
