Learn about the legendary Owain Glyndwr with historian Nathen Amin - Author this Saturday at 4pm. Glyndwr rose up against the English monarchy and declared himself “Prince of Wales”, the last native Welshman to hold the title. Discover why he is a Welsh hero more than 600 years later!

Who was Owain Glyndwr, why did he initiate the last Welsh War of Independence, and why does he still matter six hundred years since he disappeared into the Welsh mountainside? Where does the man end and the myth begin?

I'll explore all of this and more this Saturday afternoon at the first-ever Tewkesbury History Festival.

The new Tewkesbury History Festival is almost here 🙌 Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st June

The House of Hound & Falcon will be on the Abbey Lawn on Saturday and Sunday and demonstrating the deadly effectiveness of a medieval English longbow and weaponary.

Tewkesbury has a wonderful history and heritage but is probably best known for its beautiful Abbey, which has the largest Norman tower still in existence and the decisive 1471 Wars of the Roses Battle of Tewkesbury, which was the last Yorkist victory.

It's therefore wonderful to be able to welcome a great line-up of historians and authors who will be focusing on that Medieval period.
