Just snippets of some of the incredible work my pupils have created this term. We have looked into story telling through illustration, observational timed drawings, pattern repeat, mark-making, sewing and fashion design to name but a few!

I am so proud of their individual approaches to making art, and I feel very privileged to share time with them while they explore different processes πŸ₯° 🎨 Well done to them all πŸ‘

Wow! I can’t believe we are already into our second term of sketchbook school!
I have had a total blast working with my pupils. Exploring mark making, blind contour drawing, colour theory, still life, and collage. They are all so talented and creative!
Angela Harding was a big inspiration for the students’ stitched collages, and we loved looking at her beautiful countryside and coastal scenes. This term the kids are buzzing to begin their pop-up theatres and we are LOVING playing with wax resist to create Matisse inspired paintingsπŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ‘

Prep for my first teaching session-we are going with a Halloween theme obvs! πŸŽƒ
Combining some timed drawing exercises, some still life observation, and different drawing techniques to create Tim Burton style self portraits! It was a success πŸ™Œ
I even have a teaching assistant making sure it all goes smoothly πŸ˜‚ πŸ•

Exploring colours, textures and mark-making 🎨 🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨
Mixing up different materials and techniques encourages children to explore past boundaries. Allowing them to β€˜break rules’ about what materials should or shouldn’t be used together, and developing a love of trial and error.
So often children are told what processes to use and what the final outcome should look like, and while yes, they need some structured guidance, they should also be allowed the time to just see what happens. Playing is not just for toddlers!
