Could you be our next Musical Director? Apply NOW!

As well as providing entertainment for audiences in Tamworth and beyond, we're a keen contesting band, so we're looking for someone whose experience can steer us in the direction of success.

We rehearse from 6:30pm-8:30pm on Sundays and 8pm-10pm on Wednesdays in our own band room in Amington, Tamworth (B77 3HY). We're really easy to get to, just 5 minutes from junction 10 of the M42.

All applications will be in strict confidence so if you think you could take the helm, drop us a line with your conducting CV at [email protected] or express your interest directly via Facebook messenger before Monday 31st August.

Chris Barrows met up with Sarah Louise Francis and Elaine Clay of the wonderful Amington Brass Band this week for a great musical chat. Chris is directing our next show with John Burton as assistant director. Amington Brass Band will be onstage playing and being an essential part of the show.

🪊Our first readthrough is in a few weeks. Are you 18 to 22ish and interested in being a part of our show? We’re looking for a young man to play Shane. Shane is the son of Phil and the grandson of Danny Ormondroyd who is the much respected conductor of the Grimley Colliery Brass Band.
Shane is a lovely part with a small amount of lines to learn. Please message us if you’re interested. We’d love to have you with us. It’s going to be an amazing show !

🪊A Yorkshire Coal mining town is facing the closure of its local pit. Led by Danny Ormondroyd the passionate members of the Grimley Colliery Brass Band struggle to keep their community and spirits alive by fighting to reach the national Championships at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

🎺It’s a funny, tender and sad story which will touch everyone’s hearts.

We’d like to say thank you to local Councillors Margaret Clarke and Rosey Claymore, who recently very generously supported us with grants from their community funds. We were in dire need of a full set of new music stands, which we have now been able to purchase.
Our new smart set of stands made its first outing for our performance at Middleton Fete earlier this month and they’re fantastic! We’re so glad we no longer have to contend with wibbly wobbly legs or missing screws while we’re playing!

Thank you Cllr Margaret and Cllr Rosey!

After three years at the helm, our Musical Director, Chris Barker, has stepped down from his role in the band.

We’d like to thank Chris for his commitment, hard work, and contribution to the band over the past three years and wish him the very best for the future.

As we look ahead to our next chapter, we invite anyone who believes they have what it takes to pick up the baton and lead us into the future to get in touch in confidence. Please drop us a message on Facebook or email [email protected].
