Today was a little birthday trip to Bourton on the Water. Always a treat to visit and at this time of year there are far fewer tourists. I visited Bourton Yarn Basket. Some big brand yarn but also some lovely hand dyed, local skeins.

Today was a treat! I was working in Henley so made time for a brief stop to Lady Sew and Sew in Henley. An extensive range of gorgeous fabrics and a lovely yarn range. Mostly Rowan but some other interesting yarns and brands including Erica Knight and Stylecraft. I had to buy a little souvenir of some unusual yarn on sale.

Returning from a little trip to Brussels for the winter markets. Sadly no yarn shops but I did come across this ‘knitting bar’. A free space to get creative with yarn. I didn’t join in but was nice to see it.

It’s been a few weeks since I posted, with various things in life, not ventured to any new shops. However, I have been crafting and wanted to share a picture of my jumper I knitted with wool and inspiration from our Iceland trip in July.

Iceland are a nation of knitters! On my trip around the island, I counted 13 places that I saw selling Icelandic wool, including the airport departure lounge! My favourite shop was the Hand Knitting Association in Reykjavik.

One jumper down, two to go, with wool I bought on the trip.

Today we visited the Creative Craft Show at the Birmingham NEC. A wide selection of crafts including card making, sewing, yarn plus you also get access to Simply Christmas and Cake International.

I didn’t actually buy any yarn. There was a lot of affordable yarn but nothing indulgent and extra special.

I recommend it for a good day out but it was very busy and limited seating. Photo was taken on the final lap when it was a bit quieter.

I was in Wokingham for work today and had 5 mins today check out Stitchery-Do. A nice selection of yarns including Sirdar, King Cole and some higher end yarn such as Malibrigo and a bit of Rowan. They also stocked sewing supplies and a nice selection of fabric. A lot of treasure in a small shop.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I last posted but needed to rest the bank card in preparation for the annual highlight - Knit and Stitch show at Alexandra Palace. So much inspiration and wonderful goodies to indulge in.

Lovely trip to Oxford today. Visited the Woolhound in the covered market. Nice selection of yarn including some hand dyed and well known brands. Adriafil was 40% off so bagged a few bargains.

Also visited the grand opening of Oxford Yarn Store’s new shop but there was a long queue so didn’t get to go in. It looks good and can’t wait to go back, hopefully for a workshop and I love the sheep who were also visiting today.

You can rely on me to sniff out wool. My local Dobbies, in Swindon, now stocks a small range of Sirdar and King Cole yarn. I assume it must be in other Dobbies too. Included Jewel Spun and Snuggly.
