23 years ago today, Southsea’s legendary Route 66 closed its doors for the last time… and the floors have probably just about lost their stick.

To everyone who ever spent hours in that queue – maybe waiting it out over at Owens until things died down, or watching Mr Wimpy strut his stuff to entertain the masses – this one’s for you.

We remember DJ Rich dropping the cheesiest bangers, Mad Mario (RIP) working the room like only he could, and that magical moment when you finally got through the doors to party the night away.

Here’s to the sticky floors, the cheesy tunes, the flashing lights, and the best nights you can’t fully remember – but will never forget. 💃🕺🍻

We received some very sad news today about Adam Davis, fondly remembered by many from his Route 66 days as “Tea Boy.” Earlier this month, Adam suffered a stroke and, heartbreakingly, did not recover. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife and son during this difficult time.

As the clock strikes midnight tonight, we’re taking a moment to rewind time and relive the unforgettable nights at Route 66 Nightclub. From the iconic cheesy tunes to all the fun on the dance floor, Route 66 was the place where memories were made, friendships were forged, and we truly partied like it was 1999.

Though the doors may have closed many years ago, the spirit of Route 66 lives on in every story shared, every song that takes us back, and every New Year’s Eve that reminds us of those legendary countdowns.

Raise a glass tonight to the place that made us dance, laugh, and celebrate like no other. Cheers to Route 66 and the unforgettable memories that will forever be part of our hearts.

We were *Livin’ La Vida Loca* back then—sipping on the good stuff, busting moves to 5ive, Spice Girls, and Steps. 🎶 And let's be real, no night was complete without *C'est La Vie* blasting through those sticky carpets. Oh, how we miss those days of *Tragedy* on the dance floor and cheap drinks that left you saying, "Stop Right Now!" 🍹

🎉 *Slam Dunk (Da Funk)* on this! Exactly 22 years ago today, Route 66 Guildhall Square, Portsmouth, threw open its doors, moving from Southsea just a few days earlier. Sure, it might not have had the *Spice Up Your Life* vibe of Southsea, but the tunes stayed as cheesy as ever, the carpets as sticky as a *C'est La Vie* chorus, and the bar staff? Well, they were still *Keep On Movin'* legends—no surprises there, since the whole crew made the switch together! 💃🕺
