A big thank you to Keith Millward and everyone at Welsh Coast Radio for welcoming Tom and me onto the show last night! 🎙️

We had a great time talking about the Dynion Swansea Project—why we started it, what happens during the ten weeks and how we’re bringing men together through modern music, friendship and fundraising.

If you like the sound of it, there’s still time to get involved! Come along next Wednesday at 7pm at Swansea Male Choir Hall, Manselton. No audition, no previous experience and no long-term commitment—just come and give it a try.

Thank you, Keith, for helping us spread the word! 💚🎶

We posted this quite a few months ago, but to save you scrolling through our feed to find out more about us we thought we'd share our meet the team posts again.

First is our musical director, Rachel 🎶

Remember, these posts are from our first Neath project and so the venue for rehearsals is now Swansea Male Choir hall, St John's Road, Manselton Swansea. Come along on Wednesday, have a sing, make new friends and help raise money for two amazing charities.

MEET THE TEAM #1

Our Musical Director, Rachel Perkins. Here's what she has to say about The Dynion Project:

For a long time, I’ve felt a real pull to revitalise male voice choir singing.

I love the tradition, the sound, and the sense of community it brings – but I also recognise that times have changed. Many men want something that feels modern, welcoming, and free from stereotypes. Something that fits into busy lives, without long-term pressure or expectations.

That’s where this idea came from.

This project isn’t about replacing or competing with existing choirs. Far from it. Traditional male voice choirs do incredible work, and this isn’t about taking anything away from them. It’s about offering another way in – a short, focused opportunity for men who might never otherwise give choir singing a go.

It’s 10 weeks only. No long-term commitment. Just turn up, sing, connect, and be part of something special.

Along the way, we’ll be doing something even more important: raising money for the charity Joseph’s Smile. Using the power of singing, teamwork, and shared purpose to make a real difference beyond the rehearsal room.

My hope is simple:
That men feel welcome.
That singing feels accessible and relevant.
And that, together, we prove that male voice singing can be bold, modern, and meaningful – while still honouring its roots.

If this sounds like something you’ve been looking for, I’d love you to be part of it. 🎶❤️

Ers cryn amser, rydw i wedi teimlo awydd cryf i adfywio canu mewn corau meibion.

Rwy’n caru’r traddodiad, y sain, a’r ymdeimlad o gymuned mae’n ei greu – ond rwyf hefyd yn sylweddoli bod amseroedd wedi newid.

I’r gwrthwyneb. Mae corau meibion traddodiadol yn gwneud gwaith anhygoel, ac nid tynnu dim oddi arnyn nhw yw’r nod. Mae’n ymwneud â chynnig ffordd arall i gymryd rhan – cyfle byr, wedi’i ganolbwyntio, i ddynion na fyddent efallai byth yn rhoi cynnig ar ganu mewn côr fel arall.

10 wythnos yn unig yw’r prosiect. Dim ymrwymiad hirdymor. Dim ond dod draw, canu, cysylltu, a bod yn rhan o rywbeth arbennig.

Ar yr un pryd, byddwn yn gwneud rhywbeth hyd yn oed yn bwysicach: codi a***n at elusen. Defnyddio grym canu, cydweithio, a phwrpas a rennir i wneud gwahaniaeth go iawn y tu hwnt i’r ystafell ymarfer.

Mae fy ngobaith yn syml:

I ddynion deimlo’n groesawgar.
I ganu deimlo’n hygyrch ac yn berthnasol.
A, gyda’n gilydd, profi y gall canu mewn côr meibion fod yn feiddgar, yn fodern, ac yn ystyrlon – tra’n parchu ei wreiddiau o hyd.

Os yw hyn yn swnio fel rhywbeth rydych chi wedi bod yn chwilio amdano, byddwn wrth fy modd yn eich gweld yn rhan ohono. 🎶❤️

When Rachel is not directing choirs or teaching piano and singing in Bryncoch, Neath, you'll very likely find her at the top of a mountain, hiking with her dog, Bronwen.
