Where words fail, music speaks
Voices For Missing (formerly the Missing People Choir) is made up of people who have experienced the disappearance of a someone they love, who sing alongside supporters.
The choir was set up in 2014 by music producer James Hawkins and Clare Cook from the charity Missing People with aim of bringing families with missing loved ones together and using music to help express emotions and reach out with their message of hope and loss.
Lead by musical director James, the choir reached a global audience in 2017, causing an internet sensation, and reaching an audience of 20 million, when they auditioned for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
Their first audition which saw the choir perform the original song ‘I Miss You’ while ‘missing’ appeals ran on screen behind them, caused judge Simon Cowell to exclaim ‘What a brilliant idea!” and Amanda Holden to tell them “You did yourself proud”. They went on to reach the finals of ITV’s talent competition, and the awareness raised by their performance was responsible for bringing two people home to safety.
