‘Our Low Cell’, the debut album by Red Mar is out today on all streaming platforms and bandcamp.

Across four tracks the band presents their expressive and visceral form of contemporary rock music, one that ebbs and flows between mellifluous moments of warmth and aggressive unabashed intensity. This has been several years in the making and marks a timestamp of work that has grown and developed across countless live realisations since the formation of the band in 2018.

June 27th - The Old Church

Miles Lukoszevieze is an experimental musician residing in London, their work spans the rich tapestries of noise, electroacoustic, ambient, experimental rock and improvisation expressed through various monikers, most notably the visceral noise rock band ‘Red Mar’, and post-industrial outfit ‘Vostok’. Across these projects he explores emotive dichotomies within abstracted sound combining cathartic extremes with contemplative ambience. His solo work realises a distinct intimacy of fragmented narratives, where disparate threads weave a soundscape of timbral decay, noise, colour and emotion.

Mai Nguyen Tri is a French-Vietnamese dance artist who has been based in East London for the last 35 years ago, where she brings together her multiple identities and contradictory facets of her art between the rebellious and the poetical aspect of her Zen/punk Butoh dance. Drawing on her literary background, eclectic dance training and passion for storytelling, Mai’s tragi-comic Butoh theatre mirrors the spiralling journey between life, death and rebirth. Specialising in site specific, guerilla style performances, Mai also likes to bring her explosive energy to street festivals, clubs, art galleries and theatres. Her dance practice is based on structured improvisation, performing solo her choreographed Butoh dance pieces, or dancing in collaboration with improvising musicians, poets and visual artists.

June 27th - The Old Church

BJ Holy is a composer, producer and performer from London. Combining fragments of dance, industrial and noise with ambient choral and orchestral sounds, their compositions are idiosyncratic and expansive: exploring the cracks between renewal and decay, darkness and light, serenity and disruption. Coming from a background in hyper electronic music production and SoundCloud dance remixes, BJ Holy’s current practice centres more around live performances with vocals, electronics and digitally-processed flugelhorn.

In the last 6 months, they have performed potent and emotional shows in London venues like Ormside Projects, Spanners, Horse Hospital and the Rivoli Ballroom and in December 2023, they played alongside Lee Gamble in Paris. This summer BJ Holy will be performing alongside Babynymph and soundtracking a play at Corsica Studios, accompanying film works by Lolo & Susaku at the Horse Hospital, and playing international shows in Europe and Canada.

We are delighted to welcome back Nan Zhu for another performance with us. Nan borrows the form of live art to explore their own state of malaise, researches on intertwined poetic destruction, tangential associations, simultaneously precise, loose, and subtly packed emotion, sensation and affect.

June 27th - The Old Church

Plainmoor is an exploratory projects concerned with decay and nostalgia. This unrestricted sonic palette blends organic instrumentation and non-musical objects to create a largely improvised array of cavernous vocals, field recording, brass, orchestration, and noise.

This early project, based in East London, is earning a reputation for unorthodox live performances. Audiences are met with a trio which manipulates an array of sounds and instruments into widescreen landscapes, terrifying dissonance, and nostalgic beauty. Each performance is largely improvised and utterly unique.

In April 2024 Plainmoor observes the debut single Reduced to Rubble; an immersive and singular work that captures English decay in high definition terror, loss, and beauty.

EUPHRASIE AT THE OLD CHURCH - JUNE 27TH

Hello! It’s been a while since our debut London showcase at Spanners last autumn, so we’re pleased to present our next event in just two weeks time at the Old Church in Stoke Newington. A wonderful venue and a warm reminder of the spaces we inhabited from our early days in Norwich.

We have music from the experimental trio Plainmoor, electronic composer BJ Holy, Miles Lukoszevieze with Butoh Dancer Mai Nguyen Tri, and performance artist Nan Zhu.

Early bird tickets are on sale from tomorrow until this Sunday for £7!

Henry Cyer - .club 28/09

Henry Cyer is an artist based in London. His work deals primarily with place.

Cyer’s debut album Roots of Empathy, a collection of songs exploring fear and empathy, was released in 2023 via Loose Trax.

He is currently working on a film about the Hackney Marshes.

That Travis - .club 28/09

We’re pleased to welcome our friend Travis for their 2nd show with us after performing in the Undercroft Gallery, Norwich for our May Showcase.

That Travis is a London-based singer-songwriter and a sound artist. Their work intersects between sound, experimental theatre and visual arts. Primarily working with themes like intimacy, history, and time, they use their voice as an investigative tool towards finding a personal anthropology.

Their latest album ‘Swan Song Pt.1’ was released on June 16th, 2023.
