Beech Road Business (2026_0920)

Dunblane Cathedral seen from the roundabout on the High Street. I got down low to catch this scene. Partly to be different and partly because there was a portaloo on the left of the street where work is being carried out!
Beech Road is a part of the old town offering a variety of services to residents and visitors. The area in the foreground was landscaped by the local authority to make it more people friendly.

There’s no many payslips left before the man with the white beard and red suit pops by your house (if you’ve been good!!).
The Dunblane Centre Christmas Fayre is on Sunday 1st of November where there will be 52 craft stalls to browse (I have one) with refreshments available at the cafe.
Parking might be tight cos the Bowling Club also has an event on the same day.
Please park safely and enjoy the day, support the crafters and the Dunblane Centre.

Sparkle On The Hill (2020_1212)

With all the press coverage of the Enchanted Forest at Pitlochry it reminded me of our own "Enchanted Forest" we had when Rubber Chicken Theatre Company put on 2 shows at Holmehill during lockdown.

Enchanted Forest, Faskally Wood 2026.

We were here last year for our first visit and took our grandkids - then 5 and 10 years old. They walked around with us for almost 2 hours with no moans so we thought we would book again.

We took them this year and again they were mesmerised with the show. As were we! We thought it was an improvement over last year too.

We'll see what happens next year as it is getting very expensive to attend.

The Enchanted Forest, Faskally.

We took the grandkids here last year. We stayed in the caravan at Faskally Woods Caravan Park and caught the bus to the forest from outside the Fisher's Hotel. A well organised pick up and drop off added to the enjoyment of the night. The staff in the forest were great with everyone answering any questions and keeping the tour flowing.
We are heading up again this year at the start of the school holidays - the theme this year is "Stop The Clock: The 25th Hour", looking forward to it.

Glenmore Campsite

Excellent news earlier that the footpath to the Green Loch near Aviemore is once again open. It was closed due to the Cairngorm wildfires. Some areas are still under restrictions to allow ongoing safety work.

We were lucky enough to visit in 2023 and we hope the area fully recovers and the forest can once again look as beautiful.

October has arrived, 10 months into this year already.
Two months to go and the new 2027 calendar will be active!

The Images by Raymond Dormer calendar will show the remains of Dunstaffnage Castle near Oban.

The Dunblane calendar shows the river walk alongside the Allan Water looking upstream from the wee bridge near the memorial.

I have a stall at the Dunblane Centre Christmas Fair (sorry to mention the C word!) on 01.11.2026. so please pop in and say hi!, support the crafters and the Dunblane Centre.

Stirling Castle (2017_0417)

There's a new campaign to have the Castle re-illuminated at night. "Relight Our Castle". This side of the Castle is seen as you pass on the M9.
Personally I loved seeing it lit like this. There's an aura about it as it sits perched high above the landscape. The town side is lit up but I don't think it's as powerful an image from the other side.
