Releasing a show's rights earlier for the benefit of non-professional theatre might ultimately do more good than holding licensing back, says Matt Applewhite

Two and a half years ago, I started Flow Drama with nothing more than a room and thirteen years of professional LAMDA training and acting work behind me ( National Theatre, BBC, ITV )

I had a feeling that something was missing locally for those who wanted to develop drama skills and be part of a group, not just perform in productions.

Two years on, it's still going and we are growing, one class at a time. New classes are starting this September!

And I want to help adults with a sense of belonging and community and creative play!

I’ve been teaching for years and I see how weekly classes help create community, build relationships, empowering people to play and have lots of fun. And in doing, so confidence grows, communication and self expression improves, listening skills develop and friendships are made.

I teach drama and acting techniques from direct experience. And they are transferable. Drama skills are life skills, they help with communication, speaking and listening, our sense of self, and self-confidence.

Flow Drama is over 2 years old (we let our birthday go quietly uncelebrated)

Truth is, managing social media on top of running & planning our amazing classes each week, felt a bit stretchy.

But we are back with renewed energy and excitement for our expansion

To mark it, we are giving away a gift. Four meditation audios I made for children: one for nerves, a calming body scan, one for gratitude, and a fourth for the occasion.

They're for any child who needs help settling before school, before bed, before something that feels big.

This Summer we have been busy behind the scenes, planning and evaluating how we want to move forwards.

Flow is here to help support the local community develop life skills. Our classes serve children, young people and adults too and this is why we are starting September bigger and better than ever!.
