Great Massingham Village Hall

Great Massingham Village Hall A large welcoming venue to host your event

30/07/2026

The aim of our posts on Facebook are to promote events taking place at the Village Hall, highlight our wonderful Village, that we are so lucky to be part of and a little tongue in cheek humour mostly at the expense of the Ogress.
The Ogress was a little perturbed by some negative comments on yesterday's post about the pond situation. Be kind, there's no room for nastiness . Everyone is just trying to do their best .
And as dear Marcus soon found out, the Ogress doesn't tolerate any form of nastiness and she soon put the keyboard warrior to bed with a smacked bottom .

As a Village Hall we take great interest in our community. So although it's not directly a Village Hall 'problem' I feel we all need to get behind Jasmine Longhurst, Fishing Warden, and support her in any way we can in trying to resolve the terrible situation regarding the ponds. The water level is so low and lacking in oxygen that the fish are suffering and dying at a rate of knots. Our beautiful Village is a tourist attraction. This Sunday we hope to attract many visitors to our park event . Imagine people's shock and anger when they see the rotting co**se floating in the shallow water. We rally round in this village, people find solutions so if anyone has a way to help. Be it a farmer with water from a bore hole that could supply water or anyone with a pond that could temporarily house some fish. Get in touch with Jasmine.

Not long to wait now.

The rumour Monger's are out in force . This time it's not the Ogress who's the main topic of conversation. It's the Opening of the New Park this Sunday . It was reported in the Mallard that a celebrity is attending to open it. Can I just clarify it is not Prince Andrew, although he is a 'Minor Celebrity' he has other engagements that day . So I'm guessing we all have to wait and see who it is.

Every week BYOB - Build Your Own Burger hides a chip , the lucky person to find it gets a free portion of chips. So not to be outdone this week the Ogress is hiding her sense of humour. Prize to be decided, but there was a mention of a two week all inclusive stay at the Black Dolphin in Russia. Good luck everyone but in all honesty we all know she doesn't have a sense of humour to hide in the first place .

The Ogress has few passions in life, one being cake, two the love of her family and thirdly and most probably the most important is the success of the Village Hall to which she has put in 30 years of dedication to.
Faced with a small dilemma of keeping the punters hydrated tomorrow, she came up with a plan with the Trustees to keep everyone happy and cover the legal obligations such an event comes with..
So concerned that her persona of an Ogress has been blown she's taking the afternoon off from work to practice her blasphemous charms and her arm wrestling skills ready to tackle any challenge that comes her way. She's one big softy really , just looks mean, with a face only a mother could love 💕 😘💕

It's finally here . The weekend comes to those that wait .
Quizzers came out in force last night to test the grey matter , the Ogress wasn't taking part as she was consulting with a lexicographer after being lost for words.
Tonight the Bowlers will be rocking up .
Tomorrow sees The Stacey Brown memorial football day taking place . Her husband Andy puts his heart and soul into this event , supported by the team. So come along , grab a burger and watch the footy . We can guarantee there won't be any cheating Argentinian's playing .

There's a Quiz tonight for all you brainy folks. Starts at 7.30 pm. It will cost £2.50 per social club member (£4.50 for non-members which includes guest signing in fee) to enter. The maximum team size will be six. You don’t need to book for this one. You can come along with a complete team or join another on the night. You will even find that some of us really can be quite friendly! Half of the entrance fee fund will be presented to the winning team as a prize with the other half going to the Village Hall. If we have enough people attend, we will also run a 50-50 draw. Tickets will cost £2 each or three for £5. As with the first prize half will go to the owner of the ticket drawn out of the bag with the remainder given to the Village Hall.
