Southwell Orchestral Society

Southwell Orchestral Society Amateur orchestra open to all ages and abilities. Based in Southwell, Notts Southwell Orchestral Society is open to all musicians, of any ages and standards.

We meet every week on Wednesday at the WI Hall in Southwell, Notts NG25 0AB. We start at 7:15 pm with a view to start playing at 7:30 pm. We play a wide variety of music, from classical to light entertainment. We welcome new members at anytime; just turn up and play! The orchestra performs a number of free concerts in throughout the year and at the Carols for Everyone concert hosted in Southwell Minster at Xmas.

On 19th November we start rehearsing for the Carols for Everyone concert that is taking place on 6th December at Southwell Minster.

If you can play an orchestral instrument and want to play with us in this fun commuity event, please join us at this rehearsal.

Southwell Orchestral Society celebrates 40 years and hopes to welcome new members!🌟🎻🎼

Under the music direction of its founding conductor John Sheppard, the orchestra rehearses every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in Southwell W.I. Hall.

The society welcomes and encourages players of any orchestral instrument to join, and no audition is necessary.

🧡Southwell Orchestral Society is also pleased to share that £100 was raised for Reach's Amazing Days appeal through their charity collection at their July concert. An anonymous benefactor matched all contributions, meaning the donation was doubled to £200, helping them towards their goal of purchasing their premises in Prebend Passage.

Orchestral rehearsals continue throughout the year and the society would love to see new members of any standard.
