I'm Beckie, the person behind The Sunshine Club and mummy to a gorgeous 4 year old. I totally get that motherhood can be both beautiful and messy. It doesn't always go to plan. Some days are really hard.
I had a lot of anxiety when my son was little. I was either really early or really late for things. I tried so hard to be the best mum. I loved my little one more than anything but I put so much pressure on myself sometimes. There were lots of AMAZING times but there were really difficult moments too and it's okay to admit that. I got very little sleep as my little one was a poor sleeper, he was also EBF so it was all on me in that sense and he had reflux. Colic was definitely an experience.
I used to look at other mums and wonder how they did it all but I realised 'to compare is to despair'. We all have different priorities, different levels of support, different challenges in parenting and in life in general and no one really knows what you're going through. I realised that it's fine if you want slower days, don't want to cram as much in and to take the pressure off. It's okay to leave the dishes whilst you enjoy those contact naps. It's okay if you prefer to shop online rather than heading out to the shops with the baby. It's okay to breastfeed. It's okay to bottle feed. It's okay to want to be home for nap times. It's okay to have naps on the go. It's whatever works for YOUR family and you know best what your family needs. So don't compare, don't judge, ask for help and advice if you need it, there's no shame in it and know that there is no 'right' way to parent.
I get it. I won't judge you. But I will support you in any way that I can and, honestly, it has been so amazing to watch the parents in my classes supporting each other, sharing experiences and advice. None of us are perfect and what works for one baby/parent/family doesn't necessarily work for another but we can be a little village of our own, helping each other figure out what works for us.
And remember, if you are finding it too hard, the health visitors, your GP and charities and organisations like PANDAS are always available
