Polli-Nation 🦋🐝
I'm delighted to share that my pastel painting Polli-Nation has been selected for the Insecta Collective online exhibition.
This piece was inspired by the incredible diversity of life found in a summer meadow. Bees, butterflies, ladybirds and other pollinators may be small, but they play a huge role in keeping our wildflowers blooming and our ecosystems healthy. I wanted to celebrate both their beauty and their importance by creating a vibrant scene full of colour and life.
Polli-Nation is created with soft pastels and pastel pencils on Pastelmat, allowing me to build up the rich colours and fine details that bring the meadow to life.

Privileged to share this memorial portrait of the beautiful Jessie. Black dogs can be one of the biggest challenges to paint, but they're also some of my favourite subjects. Every layer of colour helps bring out the light, expression and little details that make them unique.
This beautiful pup was such a joy to create in soft pastel, complete with a favourite flower for an extra touch of personality. 🩷

Congratulations Lucy Chambers for “The Horror Of It All” earning Finalist in our MOOD. Animals with Attitude 2026 juried international virtual exhibition.

Artist’s description: This portrait explores the fine line between beauty and unease through the intense gaze of a ring-tailed lemur. What initially attracted me to the subject was the extraordinary contrast between the animal’s soft, almost ethereal fur and the startling intensity of its amber eyes. The expression seemed to convey a moment of heightened awareness, inviting viewers to project their own interpretation of the emotion behind the stare. Working in soft pastel allowed me to build multiple layers of colour and texture while maintaining the luminous quality of the eyes and the delicate softness of the fur. The piece was developed through a gradual process of layering, blending, and refining individual strands of fur to create depth and realism. Particular attention was given to the eyes, which serve as the emotional focal point of the composition and establish the dramatic tension within the work. The dark background was intentionally simplified to isolate the subject and intensify the psychological impact of the portrait. By removing environmental distractions, the viewer is drawn directly into the encounter, creating a sense of intimacy that can feel both captivating and unsettling. The title, The Horror of It All, reflects the ambiguity of the expression. Whether the lemur appears fearful, shocked, wary, or simply observant is left for the viewer to decide. My intention was to create a portrait that goes beyond wildlife representation and invites an emotional response through atmosphere, expression, and connection.

‘In Reflection’

This piece explores the connection between humanity and the wild, with the snow leopard reflected in the human eye as a reminder that what we choose to see, protect, and value is reflected back in us.

It challenged me in all the best ways. Capturing the textures of the eye while making the snow leopard feel like a believable reflection pushed my skills further than I expected.

Sharing the lovely Bonnie who went to her new home at the end of May. Every pet has their own little quirks, expressions, and personality—and that's what I love most about painting them. ❤️
This gorgeous girl was such a joy to work on. I wanted to capture not just what she looks like, but who she is. Those gentle eyes, her fluffy coat, and the beautiful daffodils all come together to tell a story that's unique to her.
Creating portraits like this is such a privilege because I know they're more than just paintings—they're a way of celebrating the pets who fill our lives with so much love.

I'm so pleased to be able to share that my pastel drawing 'Silent Witness' has been longlisted for Sketch for Survival 2026.
Creating wildlife art is about more than capturing an animal's likeness—it's about telling its story. African wild dogs are among Africa's most endangered predators, and I wanted this piece to reflect both their strength and their vulnerability.
A huge thank you to Explorers Against Extinction for including my work in this year's longlist. I'm thrilled to be part of an event that celebrates art while supporting wildlife conservation.

✨ Finished at last... ✨
I’ve loved drawing this piece. I wanted to capture more than just two beautiful tigers—I wanted to capture a quiet moment between a mother and her cub and their gentle eye contact.
The last thing I added was a light dusting of snow, and somehow it just brought everything together.

Finally finished! This painting has been keeping me company for a little while.
A celebration of the tiny inhabitants of a summer meadow—bees, butterflies, ladybirds and the wildflowers they depend on. The title is a little play on words because this really is a nation of pollinators, each playing its part.
This painting took many hours of layering and patience, but I loved watching the meadow slowly come to life.
I hope it makes you smile and reminds you how extraordinary the little things can be.
