I create spaces as emotional environments, bringing together architecture, light, material and art to shape not only what we see, but how we experience and feel a place.
I’m interested in what happens between a person and a space before we consciously become aware of it and that we cannot always explain.
How light changes our perception.
How scale, proportion and materials influence the way we experience a space.
How art creates a dialogue between the space and the person.
For me, architecture, light, materials art and nature all become part of one composition.
A person is not simply someone I design a space for: they become part of it.
Their movement, attention and emotional response complete the composition in their own way.
That is why I don’t want to prescribe what someone should feel, but rather to create the conditions for their own experience to unfold.
This is what I want to share here: places, art, architecture and the moments that make us feel something before we can put it into words.

Shape of Colour at the V&A — a conversation after which I myself thinking, once again, that colour in a space is not a decorative layer.

Anna Franklin, who studies how the brain perceives colour, said something that stayed with me: our eyes set the limits of what we can see, but the brain learns to read colour through environment, culture, objects and personal history. And it keeps learning.

This slightly changes the question of designing a space. We do not simply place a person inside a visual environment. That environment slowly becomes part of how the person sees.

This is very close to what I try to do: not to tell a person what to feel, but to work with light, colour, material, scale and rhythm so that their own feeling can arise.

On the final day of the Global Design Forum, I’m looking back at Craft x Tech Tokai Project at the V&A — with the works remaining on view until 30 September.

Six crafts from the Tokai region, six designers, and a room that made me think again about where craft ends and art begins.

The more I look, the clearer it becomes that this line may not exist at all. Almost every object begins with craft, with material and hands. And material is never just material: it already holds time, labour, origin, culture, memory and hands.
While an object exists on its own, it stays, in a sense, silent. As soon as a person appears, the dialogue begins.

This is the dialogue I explore in my own work - between objects, material, architecture, space and the person who enters them.

It begins with water.

A waterfall leads into the living room, where Naissance de Lumière brings together wood, ceramic and pearlescent light.

Then, fire meets water — a fireplace wrapped in handmade ceramic panels, capturing a frozen moment of high tide.

Fire. Water. Light.
Three elements, one quiet architecture.

A space reimagined through the elements.

A home shaped not only by what you see, but by how it makes you feel. Light, water, art and architecture come together to create a sense of calm, where the space itself invites you to slow down.

At the heart of this home is a courtyard the soul of the space.

It draws light deep inside, connecting the living, dining, and kitchen into one seamless experience.

No walls. Just openness, rhythm, and a constant connection to nature.

This is Kengo Kuma’s philosophy: architecture that unites rather than divides.

A home that invites you to slow down, breathe, and truly feel the space.

Light. Nature. Architecture. Living, reimagined.

Commanderie de Peyrassol is one of those places that quietly stays with you long after you leave.

A place where art, architecture and nature exist in complete harmony.
